My DM v1 problem

I am not new to yoyoing, so I know a lot of what to do, but I can’t figure this out.

I have a V1 Dark Magic. I believe the bearing seat it too tight. it seems like it is too small to hold the bearing fully. I have cleaned the bearing seat, and that didn’t solve it. No matter what bearing I put into it, it will only spin about 1 second with a flick from my finger. Even cleaned bearings. The dm is also really responsive due to this. I have put large shims into it (both sides like I should), shaved the starburst, and siliconed the response. I’m not sure what to do, but the bearing seat it the problem I believe.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Did it work previously to putting in the shims? I doubt this is the problem because the shims are from a the store not homemade but its possible that one (or both) of the shims is coming in contact with the bearing and stopping its spin.

no, it worked the same with the shims as without them… I cleaned the bearing seat fully (cue tips, then a toothpick to clear anything else), and tried shims and no shims… same result

Do you have another size c bearing to try in it? See if it does it with different bearings.

You could take some sandpaper and work off some of the plastic in the bearing seat to give you a little bit more leniency but be sure to clean the seat again afterwords or you may get plastic dust inside of the bearing. It worked for my wife’s DMv1. Don’t go overboard just try and remove a little at a time and keep trying to get it to fit in there, once it fits well you are good to go. Hope this helps.

I have tried 5 different bearings with it… same result

Ok, I’ll try that tonight
