Since we live in St Louis, we only had about an hour drive south to be in the path of totality. It was a great experience! Had a perfect clear sky. I am 61 years old and it is the first time I have seen it.
I had to work, but we were not busy at all so we were able to see it. We were in about 95% totality. It was something to see for sure. 
I set up my vacation day 13 months ago for this! 
Totality was just beautiful!
