yoyo string, money, spare yoyo parts in general… Oh! and money especially since many times lots of yoyo companies do special edition yoyos for world yoyo contests. Also it might be a good idea in thew airport to buy baby powder or bring a yoyo glove since I hear Shanghai can be pretty humid in the summer!

Chinese seldom use visa or master card ! so prepare cash

As Walter said, prepare cash, your cards are most likely useless here.
Don’t expect too much people speaking English.
Some anti-diarrhea medication will be also useful for you, trust me.
Be sure to prepare your phone, since social media and Google doesn’t work here(including your email, maps and calendar)
I have a vpn, I don’t think diarrhea will be much of an issue. Already been in China for a few days, it’s pretty humid actually and you won’t last long in the harsh conditions of the outside environment since it’s dirty, polluted, and hot. They do have great air conditioning tech for the indoors so that’s a plus.
