Curious to hear what you reach for when you want a reliable throw. Maybe you’re going somewhere and can only bring ONE, or you’re having a bad day and just want to throw something that is guaranteed to play how you want it to. What is your most reliable?
I’ll start. Mine is the Duncan Orbital GTX, it simply makes me happy to throw.
G2 Loadout, all around winner
Out of all my monometals it would either be a One Drop VTWO or a Top Deck, and out of all my bimetals it would probably be either a Duncan Grasshopper GTX or a YJYOYO Galaxy Time.
Sengoku Ashigaru. A true jack of all trades.
If I’m going somewhere that people might want to try my yo-yo, I’ll bring the Magicyoyo Y03 Hertz.
Similarly jack of all trades, but way cheaper.
Probably the emotion, it’s really fun to play with
Easy Dunk Rebound. Feels like easy mode when playing and it is a TANK. I have… 4 of them i think, they all have decently heavy damage but are still glass smooth. When i think if a yoyo that will last forever no matter how hard i am on it. Dunk Rebound, no contest.
I really want a Grasshopper GTX. At one point I bought the GTR instead, wrong choice haha.
My magicyoyos and my Duncan orbit are the only ones I let people use when they want to try out. Won’t be mad when they get dinged but they all actually play really nice anyway. They were also my first throws.
I gotta say, after only playing this One Drop Top Deck the past 19 days it’s stayed completely consistent. Changed the string just because it got too dirty and nothing changed. Just consistent and reliable.
ill have to save this thread
docpop DIY.
I’m so glad you’re not disappointed by the recommendation. The Top Deck really is amazing.
YYF Horizon. Big, stable, powerful, wide catch zone, easy to finger spin, and they were affordable. I own 3 of them.

Are you guys talking about the OG Grasshopper GTX or the new one? I have the OG and I’d agree that it’s solid and reliable.
At first I was on the fence to be honest, but it’s actually really grown on me. I love the 7075 too. I’ve accidentally thrown it pretty hard onto my wood floor a couple times already. Zero dings and dead smooth. Such a great EDC.
sengoku shinobi goes hard
Klondike has been my reliable go-to for over a year now, and unless someone drops something crazzzyyy @ Worlds, that’s not changing anytime soon
I suggest being a bit more careful with your Top Deck. The walls around the bearing seat are incredibly thin, which is how it achieves its weight distribution. But because of this, Top Deck bodies have been known to separate from the bearing seat entirely due to very hard impacts. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
