Sorry for the delayed reaction hahaā¦been out with a couple friends driving around town to check out christmas lights!

Hell yeah man! Great freaking progress for being just a day into this!
I got some catching up to do!!
at around 2 mins 25 secs in your yo snaps back at you, I was having this same issue this morning.
Also at around 1 min 52 secondsā¦nice! You hit a bunch in a row! Smoothness will come in time once it stops feeling so strange.
Oh and also the jade whip bind is hot! I need to learn that now too!!
Plastic whip. Itās not hard. Itās basically a single motion, so simple that people make it harder than it is. I taught my 9 yo (beginner) nephew in just a few minutes.
Oh no, I got the whip downā¦just not the bind from the whip. Iāve been seeing Moon do it in the last few videos, so now I gotta be a copycat and start binding from the whip too lol.
Haha yeah I thought you might like it
This was my inspiration but I wasnāt able to do a hyper aggressive video. Tried but kept laughing. I guess it conflicts with my character a bit too much.
Yeah I need to figure out why I keep binding and try and resolve that.
I canāt quite figure out how Iām going to go from here and take this into going fast but one step at a time.
Oh itās the plastic whip and not the jade whip.
But yeah itās actually super simple and itās me being lazy and using just one hand more than anything.
So all you need to do is do the plastic whip.
And then swing the yoyo away from you.
When the yoyo & string gets about parallel to the ground then let the string come off your thumb and it should bind and come back.
If you let the string come off the thumb too early it might slip and not bind.
When you let it go a bit too late you get a long tail.
I took a video for you and in the sideways view I did one too early to show you the bind slipping. Followed by about the height you want for the bind to grab. (The last two on the video)
Finally, when you feel the bind catching then you need to tug slightly like you would with a responsive yoyo to come back.
By the way @twitch77, this works sideways too from a breakaway. You need to to the plastic whip and bind towards your throw hand side.
Sorry should have done those on the video too but didnāt think of it until now.
I want to learn how to do sky binds soon
You can also swing it in a full loop and then release the same way. You can do it pretty hard and be a bit less precise with your speed and still have it bind.
I do the same thing. TBH, it saves my back/neck a bit. When my spine was really bad, some days Iād pick up a yo-yo and do nothing but different one handed bindsāplastic whip binds, ghost binds and a few laceration like binds. That sucked.
Iām just psyched to be able to yo-yo again.
The first time I did one I did it with one finger and cut a deep gouge in it that bled like crazy I like to use my palm or back of my hand now. It depends on the string and humidity too. I did that with Kitty, which seems to cut through my skin like butter for some reason. Tougher feeling string tends to be easier on my hands
Iāve been working everyday, so I have gotten to practice as much as I want Iāll try to do both for this week. I got a few clean ones last week but only with thin yoyos like my g5.
Right on man! Thank you for the written and video tutorial! Thatās awesome!
I only tried it a couple of times just nowā¦and didnāt get it, but itās definitely something Iāll be working on now! :D.
Got another practice session in last night, but didnāt work on Superflowā¦and only yoāed for about 15 minutes so far today (been out with some friends)ā¦Iām having a heck of a time trying to get the strings seperated enough on my fingers so I can catch just the 1 back string.
I think this is one of those things that just feels super awkward right nowā¦but in time itāll start becoming easier and easier as I become more and more use to it. I think that makes sense lol?
I wasnāt having nearly as much of an issue with the yo binding mid trick and snapping back to my hands knuckles thoughā¦so thatās some progress!
I plan on doing a video soonā¦Iād like to get my sky binds and some Hidemassa Hooks on video too.
This is how i used to feel with magic drop, now I donāt even think about it.
haha I canāt wait to be at that point. Magic drop is my freaking enemy.
But itās just one of those things that I know Iāll eventually get it and then have no idea why I struggled with it so much.
My biggest problem with it was trying to force the string to reject, instead of just letting it reject, if that makes any sense lol. Eventually youāll find that sweet spot of how to place your hands just right.
I really like the way you do magic drop. When I try to do it like that with the late rejection I donāt get enough separation between the strings.
Okay, so made some progress todayā¦not any huge strides, but I am improving on this.
Iām starting to be able to hit the back string more for the first half of the trick. Not consistantly, but at least itās not feeling nearly as difficult as it has been the last couple of days.
Big thing Iām struggling with again is the yo binding up on me and snapping back during the second half of the trick.
I have figured out how to get into that mount from a double or nothing though, so Iām going to spend some time over the next couple of days working on that swing so I can get better at not getting it to bind.
Alsoā¦I hit my smoothest Kamikaze yet today.
Andā¦of courseā¦I failed to land it on a trapeze at the very end! lmaoā¦when Iām recording if Iāve completed a trick or not in a little notebook Iāve been keepingā¦if I donāt land it 100% with a bind, I donāt count it as complete. /sighā¦
Also I had a knot at the axle that I didnāt know aboutā¦and the yo snapped back at me and hit me right at the tip of my pointer finger of my non-throw hand. It hurt so bad! I thought it peeled off my dang fingernail at first. lol I almost cried! >.<ā Iām such a wimp!
Got a nice deep black bruise forming just beneath my fingernail now.
But I didnāt let it stop me! I practiced through the painā¦but it was a mess cause my finger was throbbing and I was really scared the yo was going to whack it again! lol
Ah wellā¦itās no longer hurting, so I can go back at it full force again tomorrow!
How are you guys coming along?
Sorry I havenāt been around much lately. Iāve been trying to get out more and have been doing a lot of things with my friends.
Tomorrow weāre going to a dinner party, then one of the local casinos does a monthly free bingo (they give away awesome prizes too!) that weāre going to go do after.
Ooh sounds fun Twitch.
I should go out and do stuff more often too.
Great to hear you are making progress. I kind of messed around yesterday just playing with my yoyos rather than working on these tricks. My cheat day.
For the second part I find if you do it hmā¦ not faster as such but swing it with more outwards force. Imagine you are trying to do it on a responsive yoyo and bring your hands a bit closer together as it swings it doesnāt bind.
The issue I have is the yoyo binding when I try to go from double or nothing back into the speed combo mount.
Enjoy your dinner party buddy!
Hope you strike big on Bingo. Maybe they have something good for you to win. Like a green overdrive draupnir haha.
Yep. This is pretty much what they say on the YoTricks video about it binding there.
Thinner string also helps, but youāll still feel a little drag and lose spin even if it doesnāt bind if you donāt do it right. Basically you need to keep the string taut so it doesnāt spin around the bearing as it rolls.
Ouch! Not a wimp man. That made me wince just reading it.
