Wonder where the word isotope came from?

Iso in English means equal, same, constant. E.g. Isobaric = constant pressure, Isothermal = constant temperature and Isovolumetric = constant volume.

Topos in Greek means place.

So combine them together and you get isotope, which means isotopes occupy the same place in the periodic table of elements (same atomic number, different mass number).
