Looking for 5A yoyo

I’m looking for either a monometal or plastic yoyo that plays well in 5a, prefferably from either a european or hong kong company for shipping purposes. I can’t seem to decide on a yoyo, but the speedaholic XX looked interesting. Any help would be appreciated!

Any yoyo that you are (already) comfortable with playing 1A should be perfectly good for 5A as well. It is largely a myth that you need a yoyo specifically designed for 5A. I would argue that you get more benefit from a 1A yoyo that you are already good/comfortable with than from a yoyo you’ve never used that someone tried to design specifically for 5A.

YoTricks Summer Solstice. I have had mine for over a year and a half, and it is the one I am using to learn 5A. The oldest yoyo I own, it’s a great beater (I’ve dropped mine on asphalt three times and it’s fine), wide catch zone, feels great on the catch.

On the flip side. I have a couple yoyos that i really dislike playing for 1a, but they feel pretty good for 1a. So its honestly worth just trying all your yoyos out with a counterweight and you might find something you really enjoy

And to respond to op, ive been loving the wilderness 7075 as a 5a monometal

I tend to prefer comfortable semi organic shapes like tp form factor or something like the canopy line up for 5a. Amd i like them a bit heavier so its harder to move them on accident when manipulating the cw. Stark contrast to my 1a preference of light and v shaped like the peregrine or krown series, or socius.

I really love my Aitch, it’s a great 1A YoYo, but man for 5a it’s incredible (imo). Funny how that goes.

Also, Freehand One is a fun choice, but they are responsive out of the package if that matters, and they can sometimes feel a little underpowered. I wouldn’t consider them a high performer by any means, but overall I love them. Fun to chuck around and do some basic stuff with, and they just have character.

I find that a bit ironic as the Freehand One is what started it all :upside_down_face:

Todd YoyoFox Rollenhagen just posted a video slinging the color changing Freehand One and wowzers - I couldn’t believe how well that thing is slinging around. Sheesh! It certainly doesn’t spin that long in my hands. :man_shrugging:
