London / Southwestern Ontario?

Hi there all,

Are any of you in or near London, Ontario? I’m looking for some throwers to meet up with but so far the closest people I’ve found is the University of Toronto yoyo group 2 hours away.

I’m flexible on meetup dates and times, just looking to meet up and throw with some people who share the interest!

Just thought I’d post here since I haven’t had any luck so far offline. If you happen to know of anyone in or around London (within an hour drive or so), please point them in my direction!

Hey! I’m London as well. Been out of the yo’ing community for a while … but still throw from time-to-time.

Find any other enthusiasts yet?

Hey, I’ve been playing in the London area for a while and never come across any meetups. One or two players pop up here and there, but nothing formal, That I’ve seen anyway

Toronto’s got the biggest, consistent club that I’ve seen. Sadly, never made it there yet. But I know some of the players are a good group if you could get that way.

I’m still around London and I still throw, but not as frequently as I used to due to time and work commitments. I’d be up for meeting up if there are a few of us that could get together and throw.

I’m entirely new but would love to meet some more experienced people :joy: being a newer dad finding a solo hobby like this has been a god send :joy:

I hear that! Yoyo has been a great constructive break for me as well. My kids kinda enjoy my tricks too haha

It’s a hit with my nieces and nephews! In particular, they love when I do a fingerspin, and then we transfer it over to their finger. It blows their minds that they can keep it on their finger!

If anyone’s ever down to meet up let me know! Would love a chance to see people doing these tricks IRL, I’m basically new still, can do all the basics from when I was a kid (rock the baby, around the world) I remember being like 8 and just showing people me sleeping the yoyo and thinking I was the next big thing :joy:

I’ve currently only have a responsive YoMega Maverick which I’m using to get all the basics down and such with, and I’ve got a YoyoFriends Ultracut coming in the mail for when I’m ready to move to unresponsive, got a nice black Friday deal :fire:

Nice, big step up from the maveric haha

Well, I got back into it a few years ago and it’s been really good for me I was the tomato firestorm fan with that transaxle. When I got back in and grabbed a ZGRT @jeduardo Basalisk, And it was fun, but I didn’t really get back into yoyo until I got my El Mijo.

A meetup would be neat, but my schedule is a challenge to work with.

I feel that my work life’s pretty busy :joy: even if it’s just a one off meet up it would do wonders for my enthusiasm for the hobby for sure :joy:

Where would we meet? I don’t know a good spot.

The Toronto club usually meets up in a public area in one of the universities there. I imagine something similar here would work, meeting up in a common area at Western or Fanshawe?

Agreed somewhere like Fanshawe’s oasis or something would be a good spot potentially?

I’m fairly busy for the remainder of December due to the holidays and whatnot, but I’d be up for meeting up sometime in January. I’m generally available any weekday evening after 6pm, or any weekend after 1pm.

What does everyone else’s availability look like for January?

Hey hey! I’m just outside of Guelph, happy to stay in touch but I don’t have a lot of free time currently as I have 2 young kids. My 5-year-old has been practicing his forward throw with me though! As well as his big cup on kendama.

@Slicemage @Xanadu @Overtinkering id love to do a proper meetup in January! My schedule is essentially free after 3pm weekdays and fully open on weekends so I’m pretty available most afternoons as I work mornings.

I got my First Unresponsive Yoyo last week so it’s been quite a fun week for me :joy: if anyone ever wants to meet up before hand to show me some tricks I’d always be down to as well :flexed_biceps:t3:

Hey, yeah, I’m pretty interested in that. I think I can make that time work.

I think I will let you down though. I am primarily fixed axle and responsive yo-yo player. I would say I dabble on responsive more than play.

Lol
