Limited runs

Source? I’ve (respectfully) bugged them a couple of times over the years in the process of hunting one down lol.

I’ll send you a PM.

I posted a poll in lines with this topic.

Just checked: Of my existing throws only 60% can be replaced today, of my premium throws only 35%.

Kudos to the manufactures who have the capability to meet demand quantities of their best stuff.

Rephrased to be more sensitive. My sincere appologies to anyone I may have offended with my original phrasing

Considering everything that’s been discussed and the excellent points made by folks in this thread I don’t think manufacturers not believing in a product is the right conclusion to draw from seeing successful yo-yos being so popular they sell out.

If they didn’t believe in their yoyo they wouldn’t have invested the time, energy, and resources on a low margin passion project in the first place.

Let’s see you fronting thousands of dollars for a project you believe in and then see you sit on the stuff for months/years with your ROI drifting away into the void. You‘ll rethink your bold forum post then. I‘ll wait.

I think way more goes into producing a run of yo-yos than the mfgr just deciding if they “believe” in the design. So many factors at play that I can’t even begin to comprehend what’s involved from idea to being in customers hands. Kudos to anyone who can make it happen.

I am pretty sure it isn’t just pop the thumb drive with “Draupnir” written on it into the fancy thinkin’ box and pull the big lever labeled “MAKE YOYO”

My apologies. I rephrased my post. “believe” was an inappropriate word choice.

I have in other passions invested much time and money that I wish I had back. My regrets though were more from technology advances resulting in consumer habit changes.

Periodicals and DVDs anyone?

I think everyone has really valid points. The only argument the other way that I think hasn’t been answered, is when companies release old yoyo designs in new, limited colorways. OD does this with most of their yoyos. They’re releasing new batches, but every batch is mostly made up of new colorways, and we know there are many people who have to catch them all. And while OD has some yoyos/colorways that stay in stock, if they were only trying to meet demand, they would re-release highly in-demand colorways from previous runs that sold out in seconds.

Companies/individuals should run their yoyo businesses in the way that makes the most sense for them, but i’m still really disappointed that I’ve missed out on buying some yoyos because a bunch of people wanted to add the eleventh colorway to their collections. At the same time, I also recognize that I am not going to throw hundreds more of my dollars into this hobby, and if there weren’t people buying yoyos as collectors there would be even fewer cool yoyos being made.

I don’t think there’s a good solution to the issue of missing yoyos because of small batches and colorway collections. You’ve just got to keep your eyes on the BST market.

I can see that, for example it took me a long time to find a respawn for sale because seemingly only super special engraved gorgeous ano art pieces have been released for it over the last few years, so finding even a plain black respawn took months of BST chasing. And I’m not entitled to a respawn, g2 can release whatever they want, but considering how many people were falling over each other to buy a used plain black one, demand is probably there for more than an annual Halloween drop.
