Let’s talk craft beer (for those legally able to drink)

What beer was it?

Local place calls this an ice cream sour, which I’m lead to believe is a type of Berliner maybe?

Anyway, it tastes great. Lots of flavors you don’t normally get in a beer (banana being throughout the whole thing).

Looks like you could eat that one with a knife and fork lol

I do appreciate drinks you can chew. Pulpy juice, thick beer, campfire coffee with some grounds in it. There was a place in town used to serve a milkshake called the ashtray. Just a vanilla shake with a couple espresso shots and like a spoonful of grounds. They had to stop because helt dept. said the grounds were technically garbage, lol. Then the whole place burned to the ground. #plottwist

I stopped drinking like halfway through 2020 (not due to any problems, just wasn’t going anywhere and didn’t wanna be tipsy for tipsy’s sake on my couch), but now I want me a good beer. Thanks guys. Enablers.

Beer, and especially craft beer, tends to be an acquired taste. But also, there are many beer styles with a wide range of flavors. You just have to find what you like.

Also, I wanted to post that I work in the packaging dept. and ware house of a Sierra Nevada brewery. If any body has any questions, comments, or concerns I would love to answer. Though, I don’t know a whole lot about the actual brewing side. I can always ask someone if I need too.

I keep thinking about quitting because it messes up my sleep and if I have one too many, headache the next day…but thankfully family, yo-yo and this forum keep me too busy to drink most nights anyway. I think when I eventually stop working (hopefully by 2035), I might also retire from drinking.

Ooh, nice stop on the way to the yoyo museum if we ever road trip up your way.

Yeah I only drink 2 nights or so a week (been donating plasma from time to time so 24 before or after is a no go). Used to drink more, but good beer is expensive.

It’s stuff like Bud Light and Mich Ultra that I can’t acquire a taste for. Craft IPA’s, now that’s a different story….

You know something about a weak, near-flavorless beer, feels real good after a hot day. I love a thick hazy MF, but after a hard day of work (or during), it can bog one down.

I agree, but everyone is different! I meant that as more of a reply to Nightshadow. I apologize for my newbie mistake haha

I definitely side towards shandys and Berliners for the summer months, but towards October I can’t wait for stout season to come with the cold weather.

Nice! Sierra Nevada is one of my go-tos when I don’t want to shell out $16+ for a 4 pack. Especially when it’s Celebration Ale season! :beers:

Do you guys still have the fuel cells there? I was one of the guys who commissioned them after install. That was years ago though.

100% an acquired taste for me. All alcohol was. Why I bothered acquiring it makes me laugh sometimes.

In the old days I would order a wine cooler at the bar if I bothered going as it was the only thing I liked. I didn’t care what anyone thought and I wasn’t about to lie or pretend otherwise. In military bars this led to some fun! Friends later questioned if it was on purpose. Nope, but I didn’t mind either as knocking out constant drinkers was quite easy. Brain hydration I figured and one reason I didn’t drink other than the rare occasion during that time. They loved calling you weak, or girly, or uncool because you aren’t like them. It was so silly as many of them couldn’t even stop from grimacing sipping their ‘manly’ drinks. But we busted on each other 24/7, as is typical, so it was for fun with team mates.

Now I like beer/wine, and my palate can discern the complexities. Same with alcohol. I rarely will drink anything under 100 proof and don’t like mixing them with anything as its too girly for real men. :joy:

I honestly don’t know, but I can find out for you. Did you install them at the Chico or Mills River location?

Chico.

I didn’t know there was another location.
There may not have been back then…

There wasn’t, I don’t know when they expanded but they opened a second brewery in North Carolina to help supply the east coast; New Belgium has done the same. I want to say other larger/more well-known craft breweries have opened up secondary locations in NC as well but those are the only two that come to mind.
