Woke up bright and early today and finally got around to finishing up this CLYW Arctic Circle that Chris graciously gave me at PNWR. (Yeah, I’ve been sitting on this awhile!)
Here’s a Monkeyfinger EvilYo done up in a ‘summer’ colorway, similar to one that I did back on a Bassalope a long time ago. It was originally inspired by a FHZ painted by Brett.
Although it look simple, this particular yoyo might be one of the hardest ano jobs I’ve done (along with the Captain America Chiefs). If you look closely, you’ll see that each space invader is actually made up of several individual stencils. The little square ‘pixels’ are extremely small and had to be applied one at a time and lined up perfectly. Since this was done on a solid black background, there is no margin for error.
Oh, in other news… I finally created a LoadedYoYos facebook page. Although I’ll still be updating here, I’m going to be moving more of my updates over to Facebook. It’ll be easier for people to follow and participate. Check out the new page here!
Been a long time since I’ve updated here. I have been doing more regular updates on the Loaded YoYos Facebook page (Redirecting...) so if you’d like to keep up to date on my work, I’d recommend you like the page. Also, it’s the best way to keep up on cool anodized throws that I have for sale.
In other news, I have been spending more time figuring out how to nail swirl ano. I requested some raw tester yoyos from people to practice swirls on… here’s what I have managed to come up with so far. Although not quite perfect, it’s getting pretty close!
Blue Swirl Recrev something or other, can’t remember the yoyo model… (Way too many yoyos out nowadays)
I’m generally able to get somewhat uniform coverage around the whole yoyo with minimal breaks in the ano pattern. It’s taken a ton of experimentation and cost to get this far, but I’m finally seeing some fruit. I have a few more tester yoyos left, so stay tuned for more in the next week.
