I miss the point.
Which is the point?
maybe there was a misunderstanding.
I do not say that the wooden yoyo is not good, but that it will never be like an aluminum one.
Consider the yoyo as a maccina. I have several vintage cars, and I love them!
Are they like modern sports cars? No!
Are they of lesser value than modern cars? No!
But does not this mean that a 54 bug is worse than a porsche GT3?
No!
But do you race in a 54 bug against GT3, I do not.
I do not want to say that wood is bad, but only that it will never reach the performance of an aluminum.
Thatâs all.
It doesnât work. Bigger means slower.
nobody considers angular velocity
No, you didnât say that. I only addressed what you actually did say.
No hard feelings at all! I love your work.
True, bigger means slower, yet it will still perform with good stability and spin time. This I what I was talking about.
Buddy, I love wood and I love wooden yoyo, as I love my bug and my classic cars.
Can you play a wooden yoyo and enjoy it? Sure, maybe you can enjoy a wooden more than a metal one, but do you use it for a WYYC?
I donât.
Maybe we are writing the same things.
I suspect some of the nuance of the conversation is being lost because MrBist is (admirably) chatting with us in English when it is not his primary language. So the main concepts get through just fine, but some of the adjectives and tone comes across differently than what was meant.
Yes, itâs definitely as you wrote. Some concepts would be hard to explain even in italian, in english, to me, are very hard!
Answering the topic question, I would say:
is wood still good in 2018?
Yes it is! Wood can still giving you a lot of satisfactions, but it isnât a performance material like metals can be.
I love wood. Also, as a woodworker, thereâs a satisfaction that comes with making something fun and functional with your own hands.
