Back in 2011 or 2012 I was super into yo yos. My favorite was the bumblebee, and I could rock a decent amount of tricks with it. Around the world, rock the baby, walk the dog, and some simple binds.
I’m pretty sure it was full plastic.
So over a decade later, is it still worth getting one?
Are there other options that would be better / cheaper for roughly the same thing?

I think it depends, if you’re looking to relive the bumblebee days it’s definitely still the same yoyo it was, you can do all the things you did on it still
However if you’re looking to modernize, there are a number of popular responsive yoyos out at the moment, yoyofactory has a few that use the same brake pads the bumblebees did like the new turbo grind machine. There’s also some of the recent mk1 releases like the plasm, recent docpop releases like the PLTPS, and onedrop responsives like the deeper state.
Finally if you want to pick up an unresponsive yoyo well.. you can’t really buy a bad one anymore as long as you buy from a quality brand.

yeah, that’s the turbo grind machine it’s pretty good for a tug responsive if you want the cork pads, most modern ones use pads though so you can replace them easier.
some people on the forum are definitely more knowledgeable than I am about responsives though and I hope they can chime in as well (I mostly play unresponsive)
