It can be unresponsive and it can be responsive. You’ll just have to wait and find out about your specific one. 
Mine was unresponsive right ouit of the box, but if have it screwed in all the way it can be a bit responsive but not much.
Take advantage of the adjustable gap and tweak it to your liking. Either/or.
