Since we are getting closer heads up your Acorn Minis (as well as other coming brass, nickel, and gold plated yo-yos) will ship with one of these in the box as well as a desiccant pack.
The little black square is an anti tarnish strip, they are often shipped with jewelry. They act as a little sponge that absorbs the stuff in the air that causes tarnish. Once you get it if you want to experience the patina buildup you can remove and discard.
This way you get maximum patina buildup in person instead of having it develop in shipping or in storage at my place while waiting for orders. If you want to retain the shine you can keep them in the box and they will help maintain the shine.
Very minor changes. Pads are being recessed by a hairs width to make unresponsive a little easier, edges and cross hatch should also be a little cleaner.
Oh and of course the production release has lots of swag included that I didn’t have for the prototypes. I determined that if I was already losing money on this and making it for the love of the game, then why not go nuts on the swag instead of counting pennies
First come first serve on the website once they are in. I’ll keep updating here, YouTube, and insta as we get closer to launch. Probably two to three weeks out right now.
I’m making 40, traded two, keeping one for myself so 37 will be up for sale.
I could be surprised but I don’t really anticipate a frenzied rapid sellout and kinda expect everyone who wants one will be able to snag one.
That’s awesome ya found those ole school candies that RCS used to throw in. I was never a huge fan of them (candies mind you, RCS was frickin awesome) but I nevertheless appreciated RCS commitment to adding cool stuff to their mail outs
I pretty determined to hang on to most of my rain city stuff. The gamer and sk8er are two of my faves.
RCS was my favorite, I try to channel some of their energy into the stuff I’m doing to honor them, and also to try to fill that adventurous, silly void created when they closed up.
The vacuum pack is very smart. Spread them apart a little and when you pull the vacuum it pinches 2 layers of plastic between them. That is smart and extremely cost effective.
