what is a good basic slack trick to learn that will help me in learning more advanced slack tricks later?
http://yoyoexpert.com/learn/047-advanced-slack-trapeze.html slack trapeze and jade whip are very good ones too know, they help you be able to consistantly aim the string, you may be able to pick up hook quicker, but i think you can go farthor with these two.

I would just start by messing around and adding a little slack to tricks you already know, but you may want to check out the tutos mentioned above to develop a strong foundation in slacking.
