In your opinion, what is the most engineered yo-yo that you can think of?

That’s a very interesting thought, maybe we could use a hybrid system where we use undersized balls so when the forces become too big the balls take over… but such systems will completely change how yoyos play

Yeah, I was thinking that very thing. The race could hug the inner ring. I bet the tolerances could be such that, there was minimal shifting when it “bottoms out”, yet no friction otherwise. Not sure how much it would change play? I guess much would depend on whether the dimensions of the bearing would need to be much different

My wife likes the way my fixed axles sound!

Changed the format from TIFF, here it is: May present to you, the YoyoEmpire Leader!

Yes, that is a dual ring Bi-metal with hubstacks. Yes the second pair of rings will just add Bi-metal vibe. Yes Hubstacks are a gimmick. BUT IT LOOKS SO COOL!

A few different yoyos from both: BIST and Shinobu.

The above answer is not an exact/direct answer to the question.

But those two designers/builders are responsible for several different amazingly complex yoyos that not only look beautiful and complex but play very well also.

You could get a half a dozen of their creations on a table. And take turns picking them up one at a time. And make reasonable arguments as to why each could be considered most engineered.

… Also, come to think of it; a few very well thought out yoyo designs also come to mind. Obviously less Krazy complicated than Shinobu or Ettore. But nevertheless very underrated. The Hideyoshi from Sengoku and the Death Robot from Kyle Weems.

Both Kyle and Julio will quickly admit that their tri metal designs were a Pain in the rear to finalize and produce. I think their individual efforts are excellent examples of determination that ‘it could be done’.

Difeos’ Gladiator and Slave are also good examples of creatively intense thinking. Subdued to some, possibly. But if you pay attention to the details; they are the results of Masterful engineering.
