Yep! That’s it, that’s the gag!
Should really get some moisturizer on that tho.
Ouch!! Grab some of that wrapping tape while you play or…. String up like this.
Thanks, however it’s not actually a slippy loop, as I find the single slip knot works for me fine. The string rubs there as it comes around after release. Been working on slightly adjusting technique today to mitigate rub. Look after yourselves out there throwers. X
I have had a similar cracking issue, though on my nth left index. It hurt pretty bad actually, and took a while to heal.
I grinded mine smooth with a callous grinder. The expensive ones sucked(not coars enough), but I found one a little coarser at 5 below (discount store).
Once smooth, yes, moisturizer is the way. I swear by okeefs working hands cream. You won’t be able to throw immediately after applying though. I put it on before bed and before work.
Missus’s home made lip balm for the win! Chuck a plaster over it…Throw on!
Got to love our ladies!
Mine got me lanolin nipple cream- she swore by it lol
Haha, Bepanthen? Great for fresh Tattoos too!
Microtape works wonders and it keeps a “feel” for string.
I guess wrestlers have cauliflower ears and we have those…"stringed middle fingers"
It sounds like a punk band name.
I get that too haha. I switch between pointer and middle finger if one hurts more than the other one, but I’m also trying to adjust technique but subconciously default back because it just feels easier/better/more stable or something. Wish I’d know how to do this better
Pointer finger? You’re a madman! I can’t even get used to tying the string in a different spot on my middle finger. Or the loop being on the wrong side of my finger…
Plenty of wonky throws coming out today while I try to sort it out. Best technique so far is to curl the finger in immediately after release.
I realized I was way too vague haha. I’m not switching the string/loop to my pointer finger. It’s just that I vary between curling in pointer and middlefinger when slinging during the breakaway.
Yeah, I think that’s what I’m doing most of the time. I don’t get as many cuts as you seem to get, but it still happens and then it’s usually on the same, small spot.
I tried not curling in my finger at all but it feels a bit harder and sometimes like my finger is about to get ripped off a little lol
I’ve searched through forums/reddit a while ago in hope to gauge how normal this is (if it is at all) and to find some suggestions to do it better, but I couldn’t really find anything iirc.
Yeah, tried protecting middle by allowing pointer to take the rub as it comes around, but could see that would simply lead to an owie pointer. Interesting that not many others seem to experience this.
beeswax based hand balm will work really well on the dry skin
it’s what rock climbers use for thier calloused hands
zinc/climbing tape is also an option to avoid rubbing
Mrs Sam I Am is all over it with her custom blend lip balm. Made with our own bee’s beeswax to boot!
Or pull out the counterweight and go freehand.
To me, an advanced beginner hoping to soon crack onto the illusive category of crappy intermediate, that just sounds like trading an ouchy finger for chipped teeth!
I’ve always kinda ignored Duncan as a brand of merit, so maybe I DID give them the finger! And I got the power!..A throw so powerful it tears the skin from my bones!
