How long to jade whip?

I know everyone learns at their own pace and some people are faster learners than others.
Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to learn the jade whip? Like once you started trying it to the day you felt like you actually had the hang of it. Days, weeks, months?
I’ve only been throwing for like a month and a half. I started working on it lastnight and I’ve landed two but that felt more like luck than actually getting the hang of it. This one feels like it’s going to take some real time to actually start getting comfortable with.

Definitely one of the trickier tricks back when I was starting out (though it’s been a …while), took me a week or two to hit it semi-consistently, months to master to be able to actually make it look decent. Would recommend playing around with some other slack tricks as well, for me it got easier as I exposed myself to more and more types of slack elements.

I can do the trapeze and his brother slack, slack trapeze and plastic whip all pretty consistently. I’m going down the list on the yyt app under the first 50 tricks section. Are there any other slack tricks you would recommend I should look at or maybe jump ahead to throw into the mix? I see hidemasa hook is coming up soon, but I haven’t really looked into the slack section of the app yet.

Whip to kamikaze uses that same hand turn over motion and is broken into three versions, Id check that out. Once I got to that point on the first 50, I started to bounce around more. Don’t feel like you need to master a trick to move on to the next one. This is also the kind of trick you can pass and learn some other tricks and then you’ll go back to it and start hitting them right away. Some tricks are like that like Eli hops for me. I spent so long trying to gets Eli hops down when I was first starting, couldn’t get it and worked on other stuff, when I tried again I got it instantly. Jade whips were like that for me too.

Thanks I’m going to have to check that out. I greatly appreciate any tips. That’s exactly how I practice now. I work on different combos with what I already know. Kwyjibo, roller coaster and flips maybe some barrel rolls. The things I want to master. Then I throw in a few attempts at the new trick and I mix in some Eli hops and boingy boing because they just seem like they’re going to take a long time to actually master. The more I learn to tie tricks together the more fun it gets. I’m excited to get to a point when I can just flow through combos.

took me about three weeks to get it consistent iirc. It is one of my favourite elements I do while autopiloting.

Took me a couple of hours to get the technique down for it when I started learning it (I was at the same level of experience as you when I learned it more or less). Granted when i say that i just mean like being able to land the trick. It took me like maybe a week or so to make it consistent.

I don’t remember exactly how long it took to learn, but like most tricks I got better over time. Probably like a day or so to get it down in the first place, a few weeks to get comfortable, and months to get it consistent.

I also recommend learning Iron Whip and Follow. I find it easier now to land a Jade Whip when it’s directly after a Follow than just doing the JW on its own. Once you have all three down, you can try working them into a sweet slacky combo!

On the app he mentions the iron whip along with the jade whip. I just looked that one up. So far im good for landing the jade whip like every 6 attempts. Another one of those every 6 I land in it backwards. So im making progress with it. Im getting the motions down. I appreciate the tips. I really do.
