My father got me interested in yoyoing way back in the day. Still have his original Silver Bullet.

If any body knows what that is

I think a ton of people know what the NED show is. They’ve been doing those shows for a long time. And before that, SuperYo had an important spot in midschool yoyo history when people realized that the original Renegade’s plastic starbursts (and response) would wear down enough to allow trick evolution to make a big jump from old-school tricks.

I still need to get a terrarian. I can’t believe I haven’t gotten on yet considering it started me in this hobby.

i got into yoyoing when i first saw gentry steins finals and his awesome tricks!

My dad bought me a Yomega Brain while on a work trip when I was in 6th grade or so. I traded it almost immediately for a Duncan Midnight Special (Imperial) which I could actually get to go up and down properly. Learned a little, forgot it. Got a purple Fireball to keep up with the kids while I was a counselor at a Y camp. Upgraded to a THP Raider at the end of the summer when 2 of the kids gave me one as a gift. Subsequently bought a lot of boom-era yo-yo’s. Learned a lot, forgot it. Found a stringless yo-yo in my teacher-desk. Bought a Renegade in a shop because it came with an extra string (lol). Watched Kickin Tricks. Learned even more, forgot it. Pulled the Renegade back out when one of my school kids brought a yo-yo to school and was amazed to learn I had some tricks. Bought a Freehand on sale on the way home from the work. It was 5/22/05. Haven’t gone a day without throwing since.

Great story. Once you’ve learned a few tricks it’s impossible to stay away. I saw someone here selling their whole collection because they lost interest. I guarantee you they will throw again. It may not be until 5 years have past and maybe 15, maybe 20 with a grandchild on Christmas morning. Yoyoing is a Hobby Infection that never completely leaves your system.

In the summer of 2015 I was talking with some guests at work about childhood toys and a few days later I got a Duncan Imperial. I quit a few times but now I am hooked!
