Guitar picks are safe and work just wedge them in between bearing and spacer. Any similar wedge shaped thin plastic will work.
Well it’s supposed to do that. Get a Flat Head Screwdriver and pry it off. Guitar Pick is too flimsy. And if you do damage it won’t really harm it.
