I tried a lunatic recently and loved it but Im also thinking of the Hectic.Which one do you prefer? What are the differences between them?
Between the two, I prefer a lunatic… because I don’t really like the shape of the hectic.
The hectic has a slim width that should make its spins stable. It has flat rims making thumb grinds and “snap starts” easy to do. Hectics come as small or large bearings. Small bearings have narrower gaps giving you tighter binds even if it’s spinning at a lower RPM (rates per min.). Many 5a players tend to prefer small bearings, finding that its more suitable for their type of play.
The large bearing however, gives a larger gap and allows more layers of the string to wrap around it. This is more of the traditional size to play with.
The Lunatic has a wider gap and has softer edges making catches more comfortable. The lunatic also has better weight placement also causing it to have good stability… but since you already tried it… and you like it… I think you should go ahead and buy it.
