You could put vinegar on yours to prove it, if you’re sure it’s not nickel
I’m going to pause all trades till I can figure this out
I don’t think that would be good for the yo-yo
It would cause nickel to oxidize and darken
Yeah no I don’t think I want to do that lol
If it’s indeed a nickel, then this one I assume is a Bgrade?
From what I’ve heard:
All of the nickels are b-grades
Because Paul dang, his girlfriend, and a car

Nickel plated from BST post:
OneDrop released multiple hardcoat colorways based on pictures on the forums.
I purchased my grey hardcoat 5kQV from OneDrop at PNWR 2016/2017, cannot recall which year. After @da5id confirmed it was the hardcoat anodizing, I remembered that’s what they called it back at PNWR. They were $100.
All of these, excluding the nickel, appear to share the same texture/finish, although different colorways.
All nickel plated examples I can find look quite different from ours, see linked nickel sale.
Another defining characteristic is the lack of hardcoat applied to the inner catch zone due to its rough nature, similar to the bead-blasted(?) rough finish of Markmont Classics and the absence of it where string friction occurs.

Lack of it on nickel plated example:
The Kuntosh you linked isn’t a QV, but the original model. Those also came in Nickel with the pyramatte tumble as opposed to the blasted QVs. You can also tell them apart by the cup and the gap. The OG Nickel one you linked has a much sharper and narrower flat design in the cup vs the QV’s rounded out and broader surface area in the cup. The rim on the QV contains the cut into rim before the dropoff into the gap, while the OG just features the plain edge.

I am aware. I was using it as a nickel plated reference.
Through a lot of analysis I’ve guaranteed that it’s one of the tarnished Nickel QV’s sold at PNWR
It’s also already traded, so uh
Someone nab the steel shutter
I guess OD did misidentify mine
Thanks for the Flickr references, @Leschi !
And so the Kuntosh 5000QV mystery was solved
Doesn’t look like nickel to me … but I’d have to see it in person to be 100% sure.
What if this is just a heavy grit blast w/ standard anodize lol
Has all of the nickel qualities
Had some OD experts look at it and they say it’s nickel
