Fixed Axle February 2024 - Week 1

OK! I should be recording today or tomorrow. Just Trapeze and Undermount. I can’t for the life of me even get close to Lunar Stalls yet, and I can’t regen properly out of Brother Stall yet…

I’m about where you are except my brother is landing like a regular brother. It’s not drawing the string in for the stall. And I may never hit that lunar stall…

Ummm the best I have is a Spinstar, does that work?

That’s tough my friend because there is a bearing in that guy. If you were to get a blank to replace the bearing, and it can be done on a Spinstar, then it would be acceptable.
Edit: I’ll get you a link to a blank. They’ll only cost a few dollars.

Ok I’ll prolly just run out and get a butterfly if I have time

That is also a very excellent option. Preferred by many in fact.:+1:

Actually, the Spinstar has a transaxle which means in can’t easily be blanked. So the Butterfly option just gets more and more sparkly. :sparkles:

What if you remove that trans axle? Will it work?

Just tried it and it plays a little wierd, but it will work for now

What I I glued it? Is that a stupid idea?

Playing on the axle/might play strange maybe some chapstick if it needs more response. Honestly the gap and starbursts are really aggressive on the spinstar it might be hard to do stalls.

Another option would be a “spacer” to lock the transaxle against the seat. An o ring or something plastic or even a few small bearing shields stacked as shims till the lock the transaxle from spinning free

Obviously a butterfly would work a tad better but I support the attempt to mod what you have lol

An o-ring small enough to fit down in the hole the transaxle goes in would definitely stop that transaxle from turning and make it a fixed axle. When you remove the transaxle all together you leave behind open space that the string can get pulled into. This can create weird feeling and possibly unpredictable play. But as you’ve seen…it can be done.

Bro i have half a mind to go get a Butterfly just for the lunar lol!!! I feel like id land it super fast :joy:.

Yeah this yoyo is sick! Its really snappy. I just bought it, happy with it since its my first and only woody. The precision is a challenge for sure but in a good way, im getting way more consistent.
