I’ve got one. Compared to the Upheaval it has more agility but is a tad bit slower. It is very responsive to your movements and very easy to control. Horizontals are amazing but I personally prefer the original for that. Both are great but overall I like the expansion more for it’s ease of use.
I may be a little late to this thread, but i agree with most of the sentiments here, having been to NIR and trying everything once a year, recently a few weeks ago.
For a pure “whoa, this is a unique feel of yoyo that i can’t get from any other brand” and as your first impression of yoyorecreation, the savage is it. I fell in love with mine so much that i have 3 now. How i would describe the savage would be “play me fast or don’t play me at all”. If you want to get an extreme and fun monometal, the savage handcrush is great too, i picked one up this trip (MAGN savage honestly feels just like a normal savage but looks cooler).
But if you’re looking for a clinically and robotically capable yoyo, the upheaval expansion is the one, like what i’ve seen a lot of people describe, it’s a draupnir for the modern era, it’s boringly good in every aspect, almost soullessly good, no flavor or personality, just pure obedience and capability in a yoyo, not to say it’s bad. I just don’t think it’s a good buy for a casual player.
Liminal and Re:autoscopy are surprisingly similar to one another, both highly capable, stable, not too heavy. They play how the Bae and 0.999 play to one another, Very similar, but with a slightly milder and less aggressive feel due to the plastic rim.
Personally, I’d reccomend a savage, liminal, or toru 0.999, all 3 are great representations of yoyorecreation’s balance of performance and soul through materials and design. The upheaval expansion is the way to go if you just want raw, bland, unforgiving and uncompromising 2025 performance the yoyorecreation way.
