Fire Sale! Need to sell ASAP so i can continue to help my Dad!

No one here made any accusations. Quite the opposite. Everyone, including myself, has been very kind and has said nothing along those lines.

I also purchased a throw from him, approx 3 weeks ago. I’ll say this, it took a little longer than expected and he’s not the best with communication, but I’d be really surprised if you didn’t get your purchase. I’ve bought more than a couple of throws from Ed over the past couple years. Not the best about keeping in touch, definitely, but a solid dude at the end of the day. Don’t worry, you’ll get your throw.

I want to be careful with how I say this because the last thing I want is to come across as insensitive, but I think a lot of us are looking at the situation and feeling the same tension…either something very serious has happened, or we’re heading toward a wave of really strong negative feedback.

I’m hoping that there’s a real explanation but the longer it goes without clarity, the harder this gets for everyone involved.

I have a feeling it’s either gonna be another month or two, or this is it.

Can you clarify what specific point you are making? I want to make sure I’m not missing anything important.

Just a guess

I’m sorry gang.. feel bad cause I kinda, sorta vouched for him in a small way.

I can understand some folks are saying, “Hey, his father is having surgery etc…” While I agree that empathy and compassion are a big part of our YoYo community, do cell phones not work in hospitals or doctors offices?

I suppose what I’m saying is this, there are absolutely way more important things than us buying and selling yo-yos (at least, that’s what they tell me ) on this site. However, to take people’s $ and allowing basically a month to go without communication is unacceptable. No one’s saying they have to leave a loved one’s side to go deal with usps or whatever, but sending a text is so easy and takes virtually no time at all. For someone to say they couldn’t find the 60 seconds amid the 2,592,000 (seconds in a 30 day) that occur in a month just isn’t acceptable to me.

I send people $ for a throw, I want it. I understand things come up, problems will always arise, but communication is key. I hope both he and his dad are okay. I know it sounds cold, but those are HIS problems. Imagine going to a retailer, trying to buy something, and the teller tell you they couldn’t ring you up due to stressful conditions? You’d lose it right?!?

Perspective is important.

We’ve all agreed this isn’t like Ed at all so at this point it’s fair to assume something bad has happened imo

I hope he’s okay but he’s probably not. :frowning:

But they’re not a retailer, they’re just a guy. If any of us were hit by a bus tomorrow we’d disappear without a word too.

I think it might be healthy for everyone to come to terms with them not coming back, which is a possibility.

Still no yoyo and no response for me either, I sent him money October 26th. I sent him messages through here and his email address registered with PayPal.

Based on his overall rep, I’m thinking something pretty bad happened, it looks like he’s gone a few weeks without communication, but almost six weeks without shipping and a month without logging in is a long time.

Anybody got a phone number for him? Maybe someone can try giving him a call.

Ed just got back to me, he had a death in the family, which really sucks to hear, especially after just going through medical stuff with his dad. But, at least it sounds like he’s ok.

For transparency, I need to share my experience here, because I will not let this slide.

I’ve purchased many yoyos from @EdDude in the past without issues, which makes this situation even more disappointing. On October 27th, I sent him $200 for a bundle he confirmed was available. He acknowledged receipt and told me they would ship “tomorrow.”

Since then:

  • No package

  • No tracking number

  • Multiple broken promises

  • No refund despite repeated requests

  • Over 50 days have passed

Several people have reached out privately to tell me this is a pattern with Ed … long disappearances, unfulfilled orders, and excuses. Whether or not that’s tied to personal events does not change the fact that he took my money and has not delivered anything or refunded it.

This is now a failed transaction, and I am leaving negative feedback accordingly so others are not put in the same position.

If a refund is issued, I will update this.

Until then, this stands as non-delivery.

Facts. 100% supported.

And before anyone responds with the familiar list of personal circumstances Ed has mentioned … his dad, his brother, surgeries, emergencies, etc. … I want to be very clear:

None of that changes the basic obligation to either ship what was paid for or return the money.

We all deal with real life. We all have things happen. But going silent, breaking repeated promises, taking payment without delivering anything, and ignoring refund requests is not “life happening”… it’s simply not honoring a transaction.

I’m not commenting on the truth or details of anyone’s personal situation.
I’m commenting on the actions:

  • Payment accepted

  • Item not shipped

  • No tracking

  • No communication

  • No refund

That’s the reality.
Everything else is background noise.

If a seller cannot follow through, for ANY reason, the minimum standard is to communicate honestly or issue a refund.

Neither happened here.

Yeah, that’s totally fair Thomas. I actually didn’t get a response from Ed until after I filed a PayPal dispute, however I did receive the yoyo today and have since closed the dispute as resolved. Hopefully you can either get a refund or your yoyo.
