On September 28th, Faye Webster and Braindead put on a yoyo event in Berkeley California that featured many of the worlds top yoyo players on the big stage combined with musical performances and good times with friends.
Here is our recap video from the event!
This event was a huge deal for many of us as it answered a long lasting question that we’ve had: “Can a yoyo event be successful without a “competition” aspect involved?”.
Yoyo players from all around the world traveled to Berkeley for this, the stage production was amazing and professional, Duncan provided yoyos for all ticket holders as many attendees were Faye fans and not necessarily super interested in the yoyo aspect, but after the show, we saw hundred and hundreds of people still playing with their yoyos and trying to learn new things, and thanks to all the players who went around teaching, we saw many people getting their first throws and binds
This showcase allowed players to create freestyles that showed off their personality and tricks free of worrying about “clicks” and “evals” and created a very fun and laid back atmosphere that was entertaining to yoyo players and the music fans alike.
As we move forward, I hope we can see more events like this as this was truly a great thing to have happen for our hobby. Much love to all who made this possible!
