Easy YoYo Dyeing Design Maker Tool -GhettoTek 10.1

I always have trouble Getting glue into the patterns I want when I’m dyeing. Painbrushes clog up and make, and the bottle is too cumbersome for me to hold while trying to make a design without making it look like it was fingerpainted by an drunk 3yr old Parkinsons disease (see Steely Dan). So I came up with this thing, I call the “Glueringe”. Aw Yeah, I’m a wordsmith.

The parts You are going to need will add up to about a dollar. Chances are, you already have all this stuff anyway.
They are:
1 Papermate Flexgrip Ultra pen - medium or fine
1 roll of gasket tape - runs about $.50 a roll
Elmers glue
Tap water

The first thing you should do is mix your glue and put in a small sealed container. Empty model paint containers work great. Use 1 part water for 8 parts glue. You want it the consistance of, say, ranch salad dressing. stir with a toothpick abd seal.

Next, unscrew remove the front cone. Then unscrew the rear and remove it. the ink and tip will come along with it.

Now begin to roll the tape around the ink stem about half an inch fron the tip. Any further, you waste more glue. Any less it will be too flimsy to control.

As you roll, periodically check its size by inserting the tape end back into the rear end of the tube. You want a good, firm plunger to push the glue without washback or binding. When right size is reached, insert the tape end back into the rear if the pen tube to where the tape ball juist passes the screw grooves.

Lastly, hold the device upside down, with the point end facing up, and plunger down. Slowly pour your glue into the tube. Stop every few seconds to allow it to sink and air to escape. when full, screw the tip back on, and wipe off the excess glue. Voila, you done.

To use, put tip about 1 mm away from the yoyo and gently depress the plunger, by pulling the
ink tube down into the Glueringe as you move your hand to make a design. Do not push from the back as it will break. Discard after use or put cap back on and store briefly.

:-\ Ran out of RIT. Weak dyeing job. Further dyeing will occur this weekend. Will update.

I’m a musician, not an artist, so you can probably expect better results from a person that can actualy draw. Here is test flight model of the Glueringe on my Dark Magic so you can get the gist of how it works. Yah. _TA
Short Video Of the glueringe working. Sorry for poor quality.

Thats fair kool inventing there I want to see the pics of your DM when you have finished dying it. Do you think that dying a White DM will work??

Yes, probably much better than a red one, as colors show up better on white. I’m experimenting with dyeing mixtures right now. The next attempt will be acetone, hot water 50%/50% with Rit Fabric Whitener, and a little bit of water that I’ve had the core of a highlighter soaking in. Highlighters glow vividly in Blacklight, and I’m attempting to impregnate the plastic with it. But we’ll see. Will post pix here when done.

DO NOT USE HOT WATER AND ACETONE!!! Acetone has a low flash point. That means that even though the water is only reasonably hot it is hot enough to boil the acetone. Who wants a face full of boiling acetone? I sure don’t.

If the yo-yo is made of polycarbonate (Duncan plastics, older YYJ plastics with metal rings such as the DM and hitman) use cool water and acetone. If it is Celcon or Delrin (the Milk, newer YYJ plastics such as the New Breed and Lyn Fury) use hot water and NO acetone.
