The DV888 has always been YoYoFactory’s flagship entry-level yo-yo for those players who want something a little sturdier than plastic at a budget price. The new DV888 introduces a significant advancement with the incorporation of a polycarbonate fingerspin cap! Hitting a finger spin and moving on to performing the DNA yoyo trick has never been easier now for anyone even if you are completely new to throwing yo-yos!
Since the first time we threw it the DV888 has been one of our top recommended entry-level metal yo-yos. It’s built to perform beginner to advances tricks giving the perfect setup whether you want to play responsive out of the box or upgrade to unresponsive play. The simple compact design feels smooth and maneuverable on the string and packs plenty of spin power for yo-yo players ready to move on to more advanced string tricks fast!
Great for your first metal or as an addition to your growing collection; The DV888 offers some serious bang for your buck!
The Dv888 comes responsive but can easily be upgraded for unresponsive play with the YoYoFactory Upgrade Kit!
I have a responsive dv888 without the caps, but it has those same pads. It is extremely responsive, hope you have quick reflexes lol. I also have 2 unresponsive ones with a standard bearing rather than the half spec and the pads are flush, those play nicely
Yeah, i wish YYF and other companies would cut it out with the responsive/unresponsive yoyos. Make one or the other pls.
It would take a smidge of extra effort but if I had a DV888 id be making that bad boy unresponsive. I feel like the responsive version is just an axle that is too short, a half spec bearing and pads that are too big.
Yeah pretty much, I do like the two unresponsive ones a lot though, I let my friend borrow the red one and the blue one, the splash is my favorite of the three
I’m pretty new and have a couple of different beginner’ish yoyos like the Yotricks Sage and I bought the DV888. I found it to be TOO responsive. Compared to my responsive Sage it ground to a halt so fast when I tried to do any basic string tricks. I put the unresponsive bearing that came with a Yoyofactory Arrow in it and it was still responsive and didn’t have the nice feel my Sage has in my relatively newbie’ish opinion. I’ve started learning unresponsive and might like the DV888 if it had thinner pads, but as it is I’m not sure what it’s intended style/audience is.
I would clean the bearing and get some different pads for it if you can, they’re pretty fun unresponsive
Edit: they’re targeted at beginners but in my opinion they aren’t the best choice for a beginner, they can be pretty scary, I always tell people to make sure they have quick reflexes if they play it responsive
