Havin a haymaker x and a orbital gtx coming my way but im wondered about the finish. Does the protective coat wear out faster than regular ano?
upppp
I’m not sure I understand the question but I believe clear coats are basically just anodized without any dye.
I have two clear coated throws from duncan and they haven’t oxidised yet
From what I understand, it’s hard to say a clear coated yoyo is less durable than a dyed anodised one, since we don’t really know the thickness of the anodisation on the yoyos (the thicker the more durable). A hard coat is the most durable, but it’s not a popular anodising technique used on yoyos since it can make the colour darker and hazed, so a regular cosmetic or dyed coat is commonly used. The main factors that can fade ano is light, chemicals and heat, but most of the time manufactures do a apply a layer of sealant after anodising for extra protection. (you can tell a non-sealed yoyo is more sticky when you touch the surface than a sealed one)
The clear coat shown on duncan’s 6061 bimentals are pretty light, so I persume it’s a very thin coat of ano. But if you take care of it, there should be no problem.
woah so nice. such an insight. im planning to use my haymaker x of this color for practicing purpose. my hands dont sweat much. what throws were those in the pic?
Looks like a Haymaker X and a Grasshopper GTX (not very sure about the second one, it’s looks much smaller than the Haymaker X).
I really enjoyed how the HaymakerX is Clear coated in the cups, but the catch zone is bead blasted.
The appearance of clear coat is nice, but I don’t like the feel of it- almost tacky to the touch.
IMHO
interesting
Id be interested in trading for a silver coated throw. The raptor ect.
No worries, and yep @Hanker is right.
