Awesome would love to see you there
Va states 2026 is coming! tentatively is planned for mid September and it’ll be up north toward sterling, VA if all goes as planned.
I’m working out volunteer roles but if anyone local to northern Va is interested in volunteering or helping in any way please reach out.
Similarly if anyone local has contest judging experience, MC experience, videography, or DJ experience I have a few paid roles to fill for the contest too (or volunteer I won’t argue if you donate time to the event to help reduce our budget)
I also won’t complain if sponsors reach out to me but don’t worry I’ll be shilling soon enough nearly have the sponsor package worked out and need to setup the dedicated accounts so I don’t mix personal funds (I mean I’m gonna be floating this out of pocket to book stuff but still I don’t want sponsors money touching my personal accounts)
VA states 2026 Signed venue contract earlier this week. September 19th Dulles town center. https://www.instagram.com/p/DWK-Pgbjh0m/?igsh=MW41dXJpcmNmYnJ1cg==
Hey if anyone wants to join and be a bit more up to date the Facebook group for DMV throwers is probably our best way to stay connected
We have a website for both club and for va states (registration isn’t ready yet) some silly things are still being worked on but it’s more polished than it was earlier this month.
DMV Throwers
I would love feedback on this one (I realized my events page dates are all messed up…)
VA states
If you find errors or issues or stuff that makes no sense come tell me in wrong
Also to help keep the club going we are now accepting donations. 100% optional and I feel dirty for even setting it up but parents at club have asked a few times if we have a way to accept small donations to help run club events, get supplies and for the state contest.

Also I have RFPs to hotels for room blocks (1 replied giving us everything we asked for but waiting for the others to reply)
Sending sponsor packages out to yoyo peeps soon but got obsessive over dumb html edits until I got tired of looking at vs code
If anyone wants to take a peek under the hood I’m using GitHub for all the site assets cause I need change management and I don’t mind sharing how it’s built.
Big disclaimer I did use Claude code to fix issues on the site I couldn’t figure out on my own and for some site optimization cause I had no idea how to make it look good on mobile
This just in. It’s been confirmed DC throwers are eating their yo-yos!

Yoyo club today outdoors at Quincy park
So two weeks ago we did a scout troop workshop in Alexandria which went really well.
Last weekend we had our regular yoyo club meet up which was out in the park. A bit smaller this month but honestly a nice group and fun get together.
Today we have our loudoun intermediate yoyo workshop at cascades library. Should be a fun time.
For this following along the loudoun workshop was a great success at nearly 40 participants learning to yoyo together we took the largest room in the loudoun library system and easily cemented our event as a quarterly commitment they are excited to host. Hoping to do one the week prior to va states to hype up the event to locals but need to coordinate scheduling
upcoming stuff I have a school demo at Payne elementary in DC on Friday the 5th performing 3 10 minute demos infront of the entire student body.
Pending we might be helping with an event with the son of Tommy rayes (who is being inducted into yoyo hall of fame this year) at a DC Filipino heritage event near end of June.
Then we have our regular club and adult club late June too.
Lots of busy stuff going on and into July we may have a booth at the Arlington library for a community event as well but that all depends on scheduling still.
Also updates on va states but I’ll drop those in the dedicated thread.
Today we celebrated National yoyo day by doing a demo at an elementary school in DC
We had our monthly meetup on Father’s Day, was a tad low on attendance but still a good time. Met a few new faces and had some regulars pop by. Saw a few cool tricks and throws. Overall not a bad day. Next weekend is our adult meet up at continues arcade on the patio. Might melt but there is refuge in the arcade if it’s truly hot and they have a better shade now to keep the sun off us
