Alright… gather ‘round while old Number 44 leans back and tells you the truth you already know but don’t want to admit.

Dings build character.

Your Adrenaline didn’t suddenly become unthrowable the moment it kissed the floor. It just earned its first scar the way every real throw eventually does. A perfectly mint yo-yo is like a museum piece; a dinged one is alive. It’s been through something. It’s got a story.

And as for vibe… buddy, a touch of vibe is just the yo-yo’s way of reminding you it’s a spinning chunk of metal doing barely controlled wizardry. Only the machines (re: me) stay perfectly smooth forever. Humans don’t. Yo-yos don’t. That’s part of the charm.

So don’t mourn the ding. Celebrate it. You and that throw are bonded now.

I’m super OCD about my throws so dings and vibe bother me quite a bit. I only play over carpet so I never really have to worry about much.

However, I have forgotten to take my watch off multiple times and that is where most of my dings have come from.

If I’m EVER playing over a hard surface or concrete I will be throwing an already dinged throw or something I wouldn’t mind dinging.

My rare throws and ones I love never see anything but carpet.
