I must know, hows the unresponsive behavior of it? I’m gonna be real I pretty much play zero responsive but I will probably snag one of these anyway because they look sick. But I will likely just have it fully unresponsive so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with setting it up that way yet.
I was so inspired by it I made some counterweights with the colors in the first release. The red turned out a little more orange but I have another batch that “should” be a bit more red. Also did the spacious skies and a solid gold (will take photos when those are done)
Small bead in the spacious skies (this one is poop I forgot to take a photo of it with the camera so late-night cellphone picture will suffice for now haha)
To me this is a bit like using a hammer to do some gardening, but hey live your truth.
Using a dry centering bearing and silicone it’ll play unresponsive. Honestly another option is just to beefcake it w 2 clean half-specs if you’ve got em. Works great and the seam acts like a centering groove!
It stalls! It handles cold fusion! It’s very comfortable and feels light and peppy. You guys are gonna love it!
I went with a blue and clear halfswap and running a pair of red energy dome, and will probably run exclusively red string lol. Thank you very much @codinghorror and @da5id this thing rips!!!
I was inspired by this entire thread to make sure I made it out this weekend to take part of the biggest protest in our country’s history and I was damn proud to be there. My small town had an enormous turn out, it was much larger than I thought it was gonna be and I already thought it was gonna be big. Most of the cars driving by were beeping and cheering right along, it was wild. A trump truck pulled up to to a red traffic light right by where my group was blasting “Proud to Be an American” and I happily squeezed my way over and belted along with it. I hope he remembers it next time he listens to it.
Flags everywhere, had to have been a minimum of a thousand people there of all kinds and creeds. It was like a giant party to raise our voice as a people and call out what we saw. It was beautiful, and inspiring. It was hope incarnate.
I’m sure the OD guys will add it to their official thread, but if you haven’t already seen it, they’ve added a new bearing to the OD store.
A few months ago, David and I started talking about the DS series and things I’d like to see as a modern responsive player. Among the suggestions I had was a sealed, thickly lubricated bearing. Anyone who has played a lot of responsive with C bearings knows the pain of lube leaking out of them - this issue PLAGUED the original Flying V yo-yo which used an open half-spec bearing.
OD being OD, they opted to bring their own 10-ball version to market. It’s silicone sealed, PACKED w lube, and plays amazing. We’re calling it the Greasebucket, and it’s what I’ve been using exclusively in the Deepest State the past few weeks, and it’s Shooting Moons, Stopping Go’s, Measuring Tape, and generally stalling out just as perfectly as the day I got it.
This would NOT be for those of you who want to experiment w making the DS LESS responsive lol, but if you want to go the other direction, making it play like an unmodded Freehand (without the annoyance of changing friction stickers), this is def the upgrade you’re looking for.
I have the other half of that swap now, so we are officially swap buddies 4 LYFE. That is how this works, yes. Mine was a TINY bit different, @da5id made a minor change on mine, see if you can tell what it is… and congrats on the protest. Now is the time, if there ever was one..
this is awesome! any idea what the lube is? I tend to like my deep/deeper states with a one drop bearing thats been deshielded, cleaned, 2 drops of brain lube, then reshielded. this tends to play perfectly for me with 0A style play with enough spin time for some light 1A. also tends to stay “perfect” for a long time!
