Not giving up the spikes, they’re a “mandatory” for me but had the fun of shooting the moon yesterday and jabbing myself pretty good with the spike

The Deepest State continues to be my trusty companion as I’ve had a pretty rough past week - long work hours and work stress, and then my folks’ truck being stolen (along with 2 of my skateboards that were in there at the time)…and continued woes today of losing an item at work (and running over it as soon as it slid off my cart I was driving) and then managed to snap my sunglasses in half. But the Deepest State came in for some literal unwinding and dive into that deepest state while I turn my back on the universe. I think it’s safe to say I’m pretty well past the honeymoon phase and has firmly planted itself as my favorite throw I obtained in 2025 (and I’ve nabbed some good contenders too early 2025).

Here’s a photo of the aforementioned engraving on the Iko Iko colorway. Would I prefer that it wasn’t there? Maybe. Does it detract from my enjoyment of the throw? Not in the least! It’s an awesome throw! I also appreciate that it’s Ed’s design and a symbol that has meaning to him.

its this.

What ed said about it:

  1. Ensō engraving. Specifically, this ensō is relevant to another connection David and I share - the martial art of aikido. This particular ensō is attributed to the art’s founder, Morihei Ueshiba, and has been on the cover of his “Art Of Peace”. At the risk of sounding “woo-woo”, yo-yoing - especially responsive and fixed axle - is very much a spiritual discipline for me. You can’t simultaneously track a multi-loop Kickflip AND think about what you’ve go going on later that evening. It demands your attention, and really learning how to give yourself to the MOMENT is the real trick and fundamental goal. This is just as true in drawing an ensō, as well as in music and aikido. Don’t get hung up on whether what you’re doing is “good” or “not good” - just do it fully. Just be present.

One other benefit of this is that ed likes as much visual indication of which side is which when he’s doing flips and things like that.

Will there be more of these ehditions in the future?

The engraving is sick. In contrast to the splash it pulls it all together

Ah it’s beautiful! I can’t wait to get mine. It was such a tossup but I almost wish I got a Lucille as well to do a half swap with. I’ll have to see in person before I’m sure I wanna do that, but if any kind soul wants to trade for the red half of a Cosmic Hippo then hmu lol

IT’S HERE!

I genuinely expected it to only come with the fluff string, but I guess you can’t expect OD to ship with a different string attached haha.

Haven’t gotten a chance to throw it but wanted to note a few things:

Fluff string is SO thick, presumably because it’s unstretched? Speaking of which: it stretches even more than a custom nylon blend string that I got recently. It’s insane. Varies roughly 1.2× in length! If I like the fluff I’m gonna be getting heaps more.

The ensō ‘engraving’ is tactile. If you look closely it’s made up of little lines, which explains why you can see what’s behind it! Hope it’s not vulnerable to being rubbed off.

Lastly, mine has some cool black speckles inside the rim of the blue cup. I think it looks really cool and unique but I wish it was more visible.

It contrasts less with the blue IRL. Maybe you think it’s an anodisation flaw. I think it’s unique and cool; like the old school OD splashes where there was so much variation in the colourway that you really got something completely unique each time.

Just noticed the outer part of the red cup also has a similar thing! Did anyone else get one with cool speckles?

P.S. this is the first OD I got since the DANG2 that has a sorta ‘sticky’ feeling to it. Has anyone else noticed that? I wondered if it’s how pyramatte sometimes reacts to low atmospheric pressure during shipment. Or high/low temperature? Not sure how to make it any less sticky

Tried it. Love it. Rate it. Even better than the non-edITION. I didn’t get around to trying my Deepest State with a greasebucket, but I love it in this one. I don’t think you can loop with a stock Deep(er/est) State, but I’m gonna try it with this thing for sure. The colours look amazing when spinning: almost like a solid half-swap but with a bit of a gradient to it & the colours look more biotic. The sight lines look and feel incredible.

I have partially stretched the fluff string but gonna wait until tomorrow to stretch it more so I don’t hurt myself too much. Either way it feels so soft. Can anybody confirm whether it keeps its softness after washing?

Lastly, when I got the yoyo and now after putting it down for a couple of hours I’ve noticed it keeps developing a chalky white coating in the middle of the blue cup. It wipes right off with a tissue. I guess it’s something to do with the ensō engraving???

I’m eagerly awaiting mine, it’s sitting in customs at the moment so will likely be another week before I get to throw it. I went for cosmic hippo as well and was having second thoughts that maybe I should have gone for the iko version but after reading your comments and seeing your pics I’m glad I went with the hippo as well.

BREAKING NEWS: Nothing Has Changed

Published Nov 2025 at 7:00 PM

Over the past years, the Deep State has cultivated a strong need for youths in every corner of the world: titanium and torque—a potent and irresistible combination. But as long as they’ve had this need, they’ve also been denied it.

Now these youths are saying they’ve had enough, and have taken to the streets to riot against this Deep State suppression. Sparks are flying as they march down the footpaths carrying deadly cylindrical weapons and chanting ‘one drop’. There have been many reports of property damage from the sparks igniting silk curtains. Another report also indicates that they are searching for a man named ‘Eugene’.

These rioters may be dangerous like-minded criminals, but their message and demands ring clear. One witness commented ‘they know what they want and they’re gonna get it’, and ‘I hope Santa gets it to ‘em quickly though, I just bought these curtains!’. We reached out to Santa for comment but have not received a reply at time of writing.

Unfortunately until something changes, it appears that nothing will change. Only time will tell whether the rioters will stand down, or whether they will get their one drop.

Let’s all pray for Titanium Deepest State.

Mine also came with the cool speckles! I don’t mind it at all. I also noticed that it looked dull in places, but I just wiped it with a soft cloth and now she shines! I’m guessing it had something to do with the same reason why it was sticky.
