Don’t want to start a new thread as we’re talkin’ Deep States here - how do the Deeper States compare to the original when it comes to 0a?
Theyre a little wider with less wall, so stalls are easier to hit but less easy to control. Varials are a little easier to land. Shoots moons like mad, its really fun for 0A
Good to know - love the predictability of the OG deep state. Have gotten some solid moons down on the original. Can’t speak of varials as I have yet to learn them.
I know where the Hulk Smash one is
Sorry about that got silly busy and lost track of this. So mine is modded with shims. I didn’t want to damage the yoyo or the side effects so I kept it simple. The shims let me put a slim C bearing in but still close the yoyo properly.
These are the shims I use Definitive Parts List - #8 by Slestak75
Now @Slestak75 is a different breed. He wanted the slimmer profile and extra response from the slim bearing but he refuses to sacrifice spin time. Instead he filed off a small bit of the bearing post and grinded down the side effects to get things to fit proper. He uses a dry bearing I use one that’s slathered in traxxas grease.
The reduced post and side effects admittedly do spin longer as there is less friction on the bearing than using a shim.
I forgot what the name of the green matte coating but its my favorite
I will put out that I use shims in mine too. If you go straight up bearing it will auto return. I use a single .01” and a single .02” shim along with a dry narrow C bearing, but as was mentioned there is modification of the Side Effects necessary. And I very much appreciate my Deep States. Every day. I just love them.
Ahh I’m on work travel this week and didn’t want to bring your yo-yos with me in case something happened so I don’t have yours to compare directly. Either way different approaches different results. Yours plays different from mine. I should send you mine one day to compare.
I imagine yours does 0a amazingly. You get mega response from the slathered bearing but you still get those halves closer together so I’d say it’s way more snappy than having a greased full size bearing in.
Back when I first got my Deep State, was trying to find ways to get a more reliable response out of it, none of this “it might respond, it might not” nonsense. Initially, I was doing 2 or 3 string wraps around bearing. Keeping it stock/no mods (aside from replacing side effects with the spikes so I can pull start), I found that “Danco Silicone Grease” was the winning ticket to snappy response. Snappy but gap is still wide enough that I can do a few things with string layers while keeping my knuckles intact.
It looks so good
Got my Deeper today, have a feeling that this is also gonna be loved just as much as the OG. Bearing greased up, moons have been shot. Stalls are definitely easier to land, didn’t seem terribly hard to keep the stall in control. Love my half swap charcoal/blue.
I want one
Sometimes it’s not right until you get the right side effects. I tried the spikes as that’s all there was in purple but I didn’t like them. These domes now…that’s a different story. Thanks @Yodaddyo
I’ve been looking for some spike se.
They are yours.
speaking of deep states the deeper state is up on OD site and we may have a discount code listed on the boomer club link tree sponsor section… hint hint.
YYE too!!
