Bi-Metal Shutter
JDS Shutter
EVO Shutter
Wide Angle Shutter
There seems to be some sort theme going on here. If i could just figure it out…
I know. I feel like I have a type
Which shutter is your favourite?
In all honestly my good ol regular shutter is in my top 5.
Does everything pretty well, feels good in the hand, as well as was a introduction to the sport/hobby for so many people it’s nearly iconic at this point.
Plus it’s only like $50 which is good value for what you get. I have a Red one I’ve had for years at this point which I take with me whenever I go anywhere since I don’t really care if it gets beat up.
I always end up coming back to my shutter - it’s like comfort food at this point.

Pyro X iyoyo
I have looked at the Pyro X for a long time, what are your thoughts on it? I’ve tried/had an original Pyro ages ago.
I felt like it was a completely different throw, I mean looking at the technical sheet it is a completely different throw with just the pyro name slapped on. I also owned a first gen pyro 1 and have a pyro x still.
Truthfully the only thing they share that you can see is just the lip by the edge of the throw and the spike in the middle. that’s about it.
Also I’m not the right person to ask to compare how they both threw, I don’t have the right vocabulary to describe it and things like heavy or floaty are difficult concepts for me to grasp.
I appreciate the response! I’m pretty bad at describing yoyos myself. Do you like it?
I personally like it a lot.
I’m of the opinion that anyone who owns a Panorama for long enough will end up loving it. I sold my first one a week after buying it. Got another and put some time in and now I can hardly justify putting it down when I’m throwing. It’s the only ~64g yoyo that I’m still willing to carry everywhere - heavier stuff really appeals to me after having seen what TP is capable of doing with 70+ gram bimetals.
Yes, @Bobparty , my Pano has become my fav too over the last week. It’s been more satisfying and fun than the usual suspects. I felt this way when I tried the orange SE in it. I guess the tiny bit of extra weight did it for me. Despite being narrow I’m able to hit things with ease and it just feels so comfortable!
I found the same thing when I put flat caps in it. It was on a whim because I wanted to try the black ULs in my Kamuraiju, and it turned out that I really liked the flats. So much so that I ordered black flats, domes and spikes with the intention of trying them all.
I really need to get some SE. I’ve never tried them before but everyone says good things
I have an emotional connection with the pyro X because I learned several tricks in this yoyo. Besides that, it has a distinct feel, different from all other throws I have. Spin time is good, stable, comfortable in the hand, and I can hit most tricks with this yoyo.
I forgot this topic existed and now the struggle to pick 5 begins anew…
