Just a heads up on carrying a Plastic Peak, they seems to be a little weak around the hub. Had this with me a bit yesterday, mostly in my pocket for some time, I don’t even remember bumping into anything, so could have just been when I sat down and the fabric pulled taught, idk.
Still plays okay, but it is a bummer to see

A lot of the Luftverk Plastics have been cracking out. They are YoyoJam inspired by the way
All the Luftverk plastics have the cracking issue, but the Pleak hubs especially because of the response groove needing to be deeper. I think Jeff said the second run (purple and clear) were modified a little bit to account for it, but I’m still not entirely sure what that means unless he redesigned the metal hub insert.
If you contact Jeffrey, he says he will replace them, no problem. Though, I contacted him about my plastic Fulvia and 000 cracking and he initially said he would get me replacements, then stopped answering my emails… 
Hmmm, well I guess I’ll see what happens. I knew the Fulvia because of @NuroVolt7 and 000 cracked because I have a broken one of those as well. I like the translucent ones, if I don’t hear from Jeff maybe I’ll try my luck again with one of those

I had a 000 crack in 2024 and Jeffrey replaced it. The new one hasn’t cracked. It was my understanding that the new ones were modified, but maybe it’s still an issue?
You’re referring to one of the purple/clearish ones from the second run, right?
I didn’t really like how vague the statement of “I fixed the issue was.” Because fixing the issue would involve redesigning the metal insert, redesigning the cup of the yoyo, or swapping to a slimmer response pad. Knowing what was actually changed (if anything lol) would go such a long way.
Yeah the clear purple was the one I bought. Started as a crack then completely snapped off. Wish I would’ve known he was willing to replace them. I liked it a lot
I thought the plastic around the metal insert was thicker, but I’m not really sure. Maybe I’ll look at my two 000s and see if I can tell.
I don’t have calipers handy, but the old 000 feels like the metal guts are closer to the surface.
That doesn’t address the pleak specific issue in regard to the entire metal hub breaking out of the body around the bottom of the response pads, because snow tires are thicker the response groove of the pleak is about .7-.8mm deeper. See the three immediate examples when scrolling up in my linked post. Tons more examples too if you’re in any active yoyo discords.
No, it’s a slightly different issue. The 000s from mine and others that I’ve seen, cracked in the cup, and split the yoyo down the side. I’m sorry to say, but I think that the injection molding, followed by machining technique that Jeffrey uses is problematic.
It’s really just the molding with a metal hub insert, exact same reason YYJ yoyos used to crack. Machined plastic with a press fit hub is a much better approach.
For the YYJ a lot of their issue was with the way the weight rings were mounted and how thin the rims were at the mating point of the weight rings. The metal rings expand and contract at a different rate (much more) than the plastic so most of the rims would crack and crumble if there was a lot of temp fluctuations.
It’s a bummer most of the first run Luftverk plastics also suffer from a similar issue. The walls are just so thin. They are still amazing yoyos though and most if not all of the 2nd run seems to have addressed the issue. I have two fulvias and two 000s and they all have the crack. Luckily the stelvia is still good, if I remember correctly, those have thicker hubs though, so they may not succumb the the same fate.
I feel kind of bad asking for a replacement for 4 yoyos. Jeff is a super cool dude I’d hate to be a burden since that’s money out of his pocket.
