How is the size–and distribution of colors/finishes–of a new yoyo’s production run determined?

To be honest, we kind of wing it. We feel out how excited people seem and make colors on what we think will be awesome on that yoyo.

Naturally, I am cursed to want a particular colorway of a particular model that was produced in such a small quantities that all of its current owners are either unwilling to let one go, or do not participate in BSTs at all.
