Chief vs Skywalker (andthensome)

D bearing Skywalker is even better than C bearing Skywalker. Little known fact. They’re also cheaper because people don’t know, and they’re afraid of taking the risk. But really, the Skywalker is great, and the D bearing is even more great. Ridiculously stable, but still not a big, heavy throw. Fairly rare combination of attributes. Even the Chief, which is also incredibly stable, still has a bit of slow-ness to it. It doesn’t feel huge and weight the way, say, a Gleipnir feels (mindblowingly stable throw), but it doesn’t feel small and quick. The Skywalker does.

I like the Chief a lot too. A lot, a lot. I wouldn’t even say there are any glaring low points with it at all. I just don’t prefer it to the D bearing Skywalker.

How do you know if it’s a D bearing? Can you tell by specific colorways or do you put it in yourself?

Man this is difficult, I really wanted a chief but seeing how they rate about the same I’m leaning towards the skywalker for its appearance (though still unsure about the colorway)

do you have any pictures of your skywalker?

The person advertising it should make it plain because it’s a big difference between the two Skywalker variations. The yoyo design is virtually the same, but is designed specifically to take the smaller D sized bearing. So, if they don’t say D bearing, it probably isn’t. C bearing is the more common variation. Still a fantastic yoyo…I just don’t believe quite as good. I think Heath got it right the second time.

D bearings came in “retro rewind” (a black base with pink,blue, and yellow splash), “spotted banana” (yellow with brown speckle), and then mostly in solid colors. If you see a solid, chances are it’s a D bearing.

Most likely, yes.

The Yo-Duh comes in C-Bearing, and most Skywalkers you find will most likely be C-Bearing. Definitely ask. They should know.

Like a lot of people have said, the Skywalker is a bit of a hard throw to find, but even harder to convince people to let go of, and even harder still to find one in your choice of colorway. Why don’t you tell us your yoyo preferences so we can help you choose between the two?

In play terms I think both are very good. The D-bearing Skywalker I think is and absolute treat. The Chief plays larger than the Skywalker. I don’t think you could go hugely wrong with either honestly. Given the number of Chiefs around, you could probably find a better second hand deal on one, and with more of a variety in colorways given that you seem keen to find specific colors.

So I’m currently split between the two and I’d like your opinion.

Also, I’m adding a list of questions that way I don’t post multiple topics on the subject and get annoying lol.

(applies to both)

1. How much is a good/reasonable price (to offer) for each throw?
2. Which would last longer?
3. Which is the most stable?
4. Which do you recommend?

5. Which colorway do you prefer in either (skywalker preferred though)

EDIT:

My preferences are speedy yet stable and…yeah that’s all I can really think of. I really love the look of the skywalker but I think I may end up with a c-bearing because I’m leaning towards the Yo-Duh colorway. As for the Chief I can’t decide on a colorway but it seems to be a universally loved throw and if I’m going to spend around $100 on a yoyo, I might as well get something I know will be reliable.
