Carrying bearing cleaning stuff

I have an empty pill bottle ive been using to carry acetone in with my yoyo tools and extras. It doesnt leak but every now and then I catch a smell of it. What do you guys use to carry such things? Or should I just use lighter fluid?

Why would you ever carry either of those things with you? That sounds like a terrible idea.

Just bring a spare bearing(s) with you if you’re concerned about a bearing getting dirty.

I do carry extra bearings but just in case I like to have everything I need for yoyo maintenance.

It’s just so cheap to get more acetone at almost any drug store if you’re traveling. I really wouldn’t risk having it leak/spill just to be prepared for the fringe scenario of: you’re out traveling, all of your yoyo bearings have locked up, and you must play yoyo within the next 10 minutes.

Good points haha now I feel dumb

Hopefully you are using a glass bottle. If the bottle has a plastic cap the acetone may be slowly dissolving it.

Its a plastic bottle but I kept it filled in my closet for a few days to test for leaks and dissolving and it was fine.

To clean your bearing in a case of emergency, most of the times, the smallest piece of paper will be way more useful than any chemicals

I wouldn’t walk around with a pocket full of acetone. That seems like a high risk low reward sort of situation…

Yeah…as everyone else is saying you’re overthinking this. Just keep a spare bearing or two in your bag.

I have a kit in my bag that has spare string, spare bearing, and a set of spare 19mm pads. I’ve been carrying this kit for about a year now and have only needed to use the spare string—I might just go back to carrying a spare string rather than everything else. Odds are you won’t ever need any of the backup bearings you keep with you if you’re maintaining them regularly on your own.

Im definitely not carrying it in my pocket haha

I’ll echo what’s already been said. But if you must travel with such things the only smart way is to use the original container or something that is equally as proper. A 1 cent plastic rx bottle is not equivalent.
