meant to ask, i destroyed the glowfly in the process because the axel was stuck in one half and i pretty much tore up the axel with pliers, so i just got impatient and smacked it with a rubber mallet to break it. i was getting a new glowfly soon anyway so i didn’t care, but in the future, it’s there a method for getting it unstuck without rubber mallets getting involved?

It is unusual for one half to be so tight. I’m usually able to extract an axle fairly painlessly with a vice grip.

I usually just grab the axle with groove lock pliers then wriggle the plastic half back and forth very slightly until it rocks itself out. Slow and steady is key.

I wrapped the axle with cardboard/craft paper to protect it, then applied vice grips sideways… then more parachord

it’s easier than you think it will be. even without paracord you can pull the parts apart. just dont hulk out on it. strong but delicate
