Yes, paint thinner will work as mineral spirits. Lighter fluid and mineral spirits will get the job done equally well. It really doesn’t matter. Just get whatever is availible or less expensive

Yes, trumpet valve oil will work as a thin lube. A lot of people have used it, with success. So if you have some lying around, it wil probably be usable.
