Backtracking on snap start and binds

It’s impossible to learn that which you think you already know.

My snap start sucks, and it’s sucked for years. “It’s good enough for now and it’ll improve naturally over time” is what I’ve been telling myself, but it’s obvious that it isn’t true. I’m currently drilling it over and over and over, and it just doesn’t want to get better. I won’t even go into the other methods I see people use, but I suppose I’ll get into those as well at some point.

It’s a challenge to backtrack to a “beginner trick” or rudiment you’ve told yourself you’ve moved on from. I want to get better, though, so here I am.

I also need to practice some new binds. I’ve been doing the same 2-3 binds since 2019. Bleh.

Anyone else run into this?

Not exactly the same, but about a year into the hobby, I realized I was throwing the breakaway in an “unusual” way. Basically, I was throwing it kinda like you throw in offstring, but sideways. Took me months to relearn the standard breakaway. Still have trouble throwing it perfectly straight every time :upside_down_face:
