Mystery solved.
P3AK = Jeffrey Pang’s design of modern peak. Luftverk plastick peak but in aluminum.
p3ak = P3AK design sent to Atdesign Lab, and asked to made undersize. p3ak to P3AK is like Marmot to peak.
As far as I can tell, these 2 are very very far derivative of the original peak.

It’s nice to see the p3ak retains the angled inner rim of the original marmot, rather than being a complete copy of the P3AK, just scaled down.
I completely agree with that.
It strikes me as a very apt revision of the Marmot.
I think that if Jensen were to design the Woolly Marmot 3 today, the result would be something very similar to this—featuring that cutaway on the inner wall of the response area.
It makes the name seem a bit silly to me
Yeah kind of weird imo. The p3ak looks super cool and more interesting than the P3AK to me so I’m in no way complaining, but being so different kind of defeats the whole idea and naming convention lol.
The wooly marmot was an undersized peak, while some small changes were made, that’s what it was. I figure as it’s a collaboration it makes sense to stick with the at design naming convention, even if there are again small changes in the design.
As someone who hates sequential naming, I’ll take this over ‘wooly marmot 3’ any day of the week!

Since Jensen isn’t with CLYW, I don’t think they’ll use the name “Wooly Marmot”.

I remember when I threw a Peak and into it felt like a chunk at the end & bind….felt chunky and hit the string like a rock! I also picked up the plastic peak by J Peng too and true to his history he did an awesome job! But,
Still played like a peak…well pretty dam close. So I am interested in the p3ak the most! Hope they have plenty of them to sell? Now when do they drop?
is there a resource somewhere that lists out all the Peak variations? 1st, 2nd, 3rd run, Ti Peak, Plastic Peak, Legacy Peak, p3ak, P3EAK… then spin-offs like Wooly Marmot/MarkMont, etc.?
All of this is really before my time with yoyo so just curious.
For someone that gravitates mostly toward small organics (sudo), which do you think I’d prefer most? Forthcoming p3ak?
The original Peak is closer in size to a Sudo than the Marmot variations are.
Sudo is about halfway between the P3AK and P3ak, with diameters of 56.6mm and 50mm respectively

It’s funny because one of my first thought when trying the Legacy Peak was “Weirdly enough, besides a Peak obviously, this actually reminds me a lot of a Sudo.” P3AK is definitely noticeably larger and feels like a refined, more solid Creep, while p3ak really just is essentially a mono/WM.
And why not? The yoyo is CLYW’s, not Kimmitt’s. Didn’t YYF continue to make the Nortstar, even a version 2, and call it by that name after he left? Didn’t Kengo Kido continue to make the Sleipnir and call it Sleipnir even after his brother moved on to the C3?
