Im usually buy from CLYW. I was biased till now. I looking at smaller companies like square wheels, g squared, ext. usally they make cool and innovative stuff.
Nobody said anything about hating other companies. Just “is there a company that you love above all others and only want their yoyos?” One does not imply the other.
No one said that they said anything about hating other companies. I was responding directly to what JHB atated about “love” for yo-yos. The opposite of love is “hate,” so that is how hate entered the discussion too. If we can talk about love, we can talk about hate. We were discussing loving yo-yos in general, regardless of the company…was the point.
So yeah, I am biased when it comes to yoyo companies because Square Wheels took me under their wing and for that i am foreve greatful. BUT, I do like other companies such as G2 and Deadly Spins because they’ve been really kind to me in the past.
I have a thing for GeneralYo, Square Wheels, GSquared, pretty much every company! But especially GeneralYo. I do have a little well dislike towards YYF even though their yoyos can be great. Its just that a while ago, I was one of those fanboys who only bought YYF. I want to take a break from them and try out a bigger variety of yoyo brands.
There’s a positive side to brand loyalty. You can have loyalty without closing your mind or having prejudices. It’s a mistake to blindly adore just one brand, which I think is what you’re driving at; however, loyalty doesn’t automatically shut down critical thinking!
In other words, there’s a big difference between “I just love Fender; strats and teles just ‘do it’ for me… but Gibson makes great guitars, too!” and “Fender rules, Gibson sucks.”
Well I’m sponsored and while I do enjoy my sponsors throws they arent the only yoyos I play with. I love many companies including Deadly Spins, YYR, Werrd, YYF, etc. Sucks to limit yourself to just one company and not throw anything else.
There was a time when I was guilty of being “Brand Loyal”, but just when I thought a company had their act together, they would release something that would make me feel silly for being so loyal to them. On the other hand, the companies I thought were clueless have been releasing products that I was really impressed with. Sooo…
I have to take every YoYo on a case by case basis. An open mind has helped me discover some fantastic YoYo’s that I would have never even tried otherwise.
You say “there’s a positive side” but you failed to list them. Instead, you just stated why you disagree
@ SkyHighYo - just because you disagree, it doesn’t mean that it’s wrong. Brand loyalty does not benefit you, it benefits the company.
Id like to hear someones idea of a “positive outcome” of brand loyalty. What good comes from sticking with just 1 company? Ill give you a hint: It’s not Fanboyism
Iyoyo, in my initial response i wasn’t implying you were wrong. I wanted you to explain
Why is it everytime I want someone to explain or elaborate on what they said, they take it the wrong way… I don’t get it. I thought I was rather blunt in the most civil way possible.
I see your point SHY. I just love yo-yos in general, regardless of the company really. But, I understand brand loyalty completely, and don’t see any negativity in that whatsoever. Some people like to stand behind brands that offer the things they like, such as great designs, consistency, or great customer service. It is up to each individual to determine whether that loyalty will last forever, or if there comes a time when the company is no longer deserving of such loyalty. I would not judge anyone for having brand loyalty, if that is what works for them. I would not call my preference for companies a “loyalty,” in my case. It just so happens that I enjoy the products of some companies more than others. But, it is not so premeditated for me. Coincidentally, I have a lot of Yoyofactory, Yoyojam and One Drop at this time. Things could change in the future, you never know. I cannot think of a company where I have purchased every model they have ever produced. Now, THAT would be loyalty.
Oh, but I am loyal to a yo-yo store. Yoyoexpert for life!!
Well, I don’t have too many yoyos (4) so I’ve only tried YYJ (Rextreme, Speeder 2, Dark Magic 2) and YYF (Boss). I wouldn’t say I’m extremely biased, but the Boss is definitely my favourite.
I was a yoyofactory fanboy intill I opened myself up to clyw and onedrop. I’m not extremely biased anymore but I love my BOSS over all my other expensive throws. I has no idea why. I do want to try General Yo badly though
