You seem to be implying that anyone in the anime otaku space is ok with the things being joked about which is a bad take. Just because one jokes with accuracy about that’s seen in that world doesn’t equate to the mentioned issue. I’m someone involved much in the world of cosplay, anime, anime cons, etc, and much of my circle is as a result, but I would never go as far to assume that just because of association that what you are saying there is the case. Very big judgement.

In any case, this I going far off the original topic so I’ll limit back any debate.

People can make their own decisions

PSA… more cringe trash from A-RT. This time “flexing” being associated with misogynist icon Andrew Tate. Just wanted to throw this out there in case anyone wasn’t aware/was thinking of making a purchase from them and wanted to be informed.

It sucks… cause I wanted that D7 they announced but they just keep proving that they don’t deserve anyone’s money. @stephencaplanis had the GOAT comment on there… “You can just say you guys are misogynists.” Such a mf bummer man.

Exactly man. I was willing to give them a pass for that insane merch Chase makes because it wasn’t apart of ART. But now its official I guess. ART have gone down a dark path now. Call it Trolling, call it “art” for highlighting X,Y and Z. But they’ve totally missed the point this time. I assume they live in a bubble or something. They all live in the same house right? either way. its ■■■■■■ up that they think its fine to promote misogyny. Unless they pull a massive U-turn i’m done (not that i could even get in on the drops anyway but still hahah)

When divisiveness is so rampant, even the yoyo community is affected… dark times.

I figured they were just trolling or trying to be satirical/funny with these recent posts. Whether or not they are in line with this sort of thing, having your brand associated with someone who is isn’t going to look good. Real bummer.

They are associating their brand with a known rapist and human trafficker.

It feels like they are just doing things to be edgy and funny, but it just feels like they are trying too hard.

Thats like saying- someone is only posting racist posts and comments to be funny and edgy. There is some layer of underlying feeling on the subject, and it perputuates negativity. Especially in a time with serious real world consequences. Its different if you are with your friends and truely are just jokeing around. But to incorporate directly into a business / marketing campaign…
But uh, who knows maybe it will really work out for them. It seems like andrew tate is arguably really resonating with younger boys, maybe associating will bring more business?

I think they are Canadian Flat Earthers

I know people hate him but I’m honestly impressed that his weeb memes have gotten him to Romania hanging out with the Tate brothers. I’m entertained by how absurd this whole thing is lol

I just searched who this dude is and wow… I’m absolutely done with A-RT. No future post from Jensen trying to intellectualize why they’re openly flirting with harmful ideologies will change that.

It’s super disappointing. I used to love this brand but they’ve lost my respect.

I wish them well, that they’ll grow up and make better choices in life, but for myself I can’t see supporting their brand any further.

Yeah I think there’s a comical aspect to how ridiculous someone like Andrew Tate is. while I agree with all of your statement I do feel they are being reactionaries , and would take the opposing side to something just to be a part of the counter culture. Everyone wants to be George Carlin or bill hicks but few have the ability to successfully achieve it because they lack authenticity.

As a woman in yoyo, I sure love seeing people support a company that affiliates itself with human trafficking, rape, and misogyny

It just really sucks seeing two dudes who I (still) consider to be my top 2 favorite throwers of all time (since I was a kid) associate themselves and more importantly, their business, with such trash people/ideologies. It also sucks that they make absolutely banger yoyos, so not wanting to buy them becomes that much more complicated. I think it comes down to the classic question of “separating the art from the artist.” But damn dude, I’ve been having trouble doing that since finding all this out a week or so ago - I haven’t even touched my Inhaler or Grail or any A-RT yoyos for that matter. And it’s not because I’m actively NOT trying to use them, it just doesn’t feel right man.

Tbh at the end of the day, I think these dudes really fumbled the bag… they could’ve been seen as an absolutely GOAT company in the future, but will always have this follow them/have this stain on their reputation. And time doesn’t treat stuff like this very well. Sucks.

Bummer it had to all happen before the D7 came out too lol… I’m sure it’ll sell out just as quick as ever! I just won’t be buying one. :man_shrugging:

Yeah I just can’t see myself every justifying buying another throw after this and the whole inhaler event. Just inexcusable behavior from a group of immature and underdeveloped men.
