Anybody own or tried the New Protostar with the Ti weight rings?

Any thoughts if you have?

in this economy?

My question was directed at those folks that: 1. Already have one regardless of ‘the economy.. and 2. Those that have tried one(in which case, trying a yo-yo without buying it, the state of the economy has no bearing in this instance.

If somebody posted that the economy is currently not flying that high, I would have no problem agreeing with them.

But that being said, yo-yo expert has been selling yo-yos for three or four or five or six or in the case of the Aerodynex Titanium for $700… I would also say that there still exists a number of individuals that are not overly affected by the state of the economy.

I think Andre had three of the aerodynex Ti yoyos, and they sold out pretty darn quick.

It’s been a while since I played with the OG protostar, but imo it plays really well. Would I buy another one? Maybe not. It feels like one of the nice to have, nostalgic and fun throws to pick up when feeling like something different but I usually would just reach for my wild and yoyorec stuff

Yo I played it a few times at club. It is a good yoyo. Moves easy spins good. I’m a newer player and don’t have the nostalgia for the OG protostar but the yoyo was definitely good. Not top tier comp yoyo kinda good but feels nice to play with kinda good. I could still do all my tricks no problem. I liked it. I dunno how much this helps but uh maybe?

played one, imo absolutely worth the price. spins forever, glides through any trick, and its snappy as can be. if there is another restock i will absolutely pull the trigger

I tried one at worlds, I did really like it, much more than the M-PCS, but I was under the impression that they were in the same price range. Easy skip at this price for me, and I was really excited for this release :frowning:

I have one Mo and I like it. At first I was disappointed but after playing it for about 5 hours I decided to check the bearing. It had a long spin time but was slow spinning. Reminded me of a 66 VW Bus accelerating on to the highway. My patience ran out and I replaced it with an NSK that spins up to speed immediately. Has a heavier feel during play and doesn’t feel rim heavy. Doesn’t feel like a mono, bimetal or steel rimmed hybrid. Unique feeling for me. But the spin time, speed, maneuverability and rejections are great and has a very balanced feel.

What’s up with the rings on that Protostar?

They are titanium press fit into the POM rims. Part of the reason why the higher cost. Also the unique feel during play.

I meant the real Protostar, that color way has a different shaped ring for some reason.

Part of the Japan Collection. Slightly heavier
