So there is mention that the best blasters are 3D printed. Is that complete blasters, or just printed mods? Also is there a link to some open-source blueprints?
They are fully assembled and complete blasters.
Thingiverse has some sliceable files.
Are you sure the $125 assemble-it-yourself Caliburn (or the $150 assembled) …
… includes all the same stuff?

Honestly it’s worth the extra $30 to me to get something that’s not 3D printed and won’t melt in the sun, not to mention the magazines / clips and darts, both long and short!
I think this is the first time any real company has ever shipped short nerf darts, as well!
As someone getting into the hobby without any of those things I could see how that’s more appealing to you than an already established hobbyist, but the hiccup most of the established players are having is that they already have ample amounts of all of that stuff and would have preferred at least an option that was just the blaster.
If they can get it to $125-150 like the Caliburn the hobbyists would find it more appealing.
so I’ve upgraded my Mediator with a 7 kilo spring but the fps readings have been disappointing/and or inconsistent. Elite dart readings with the chronobarrel have been as low as 50 up to maybe 78-80. I know for a fact that attachment isn’t working well with the particular brand of waffleheads I’m using, but it somehow is fine with the shorter zuru darts. Is a dart issue or airseal issue, or something else entirely?
I’m not really down with getting an entirely new model to mod, but I would be open to getting a nine kilo spring if anyone believes it might improve performance farther. (before, no more then 70 fps, more like 60)
I’m kinda frustrated with the inconsistency, it almost is worse then getting a lowish number because it can’t be easily be pinned down to a clear cause. Thanks!
Is the dart touching the sides of the barrel after firing because that will definitely cause the inconsistency you describe.
I do have some that dont make it out of the barrel, mostly with the waffleheads but occasionally with elites. The annoying thing is that I’m not sure if maybe the condition of the dart is a big factor, and if the chrono-barrel results in lower readings even when the darts aren’t stopping or sliding out of the blaster, it’s going to be difficult to separate the dart, barrel, and air-seal to determine the average velocity. I’m ordering another pack of different darts to get rid of one variable, but aside from plunking down more money on a chronograph, I don’t know what else to do.
So, finally going to make a brass breech! Not a full breech+barrel, but hopefully I’m going to see some significant performance gains in my mediator. Considering a 9 kilo spring again since the system is going to work better with the air its getting. Also ordered silicone oil. I don’t have a drill press, so I’m just going to carefully secure a handheld drill, any advice? I’ve never modded anything to this extent, so I’m up for just about any help anyone has to offer.
You know I was always thinking this
