For someone who has been wanting to buy an AR-T yoyo but hasnāt yet, the āif you donāt like the prices donāt buy itā fanboys arenāt helpful at all to making any kind of decision. Along the same linesā¦sometimes I wonder if Iām the only one that gets tired of every youtube yoyo review gushing about how awesome every yoyo is. And then if someone actually gives an honest opinion that isnāt glowing and itās treated as blasphemy.

Naah I think its okay to say you dont like how a yoyo plays or looks. Or even that its not worth the money and you can get better stuff for a lower price.
But I think its in poor taste if you start questioning why a product is that price and start saying that it should be lower etc. If you dont like the price dont buy it.

Agreed. I think the general āget out of jail free cardā is that just because one player doesnāt like a throw doesnāt mean others wonāt love it. It is so subjective and boils down to preference in a lot of ways. So long as the throw has little vibe and a nice finishā¦ shape, size, power, floatiness, etc. is all in the hands of the player.

Disclaimers for what Iām about to say: 1) Iām āoldā in internet-age since Iāve been online since the early 90ās and remember a time before the web, and 2) Iām big into A-RT yoyos but donāt care about every single release. That saidā¦
I totally get what youāre saying here but I think itās a bigger phenomenon than A-RT throws by themselves. The internet giveth and the internet taketh away.
On one hand, we have amazing access to information and a great potential for sharpening the practice of criticism, but on the other hand thereās a broader tendency for knee-jerk reactions where in online discourse (about any topic) people treat reasonable criticism as automatically negative. So on one hand, we get smarter, but on the other hand we get dumber. Online criticism often turns into caricature and I think itās a shame.
A-RT throws are pricey compared to some yoyos but I think A-RT prices are worthwhile when considering the money supports a very small business consisting of a couple amazing and creative yoyoers. The yoyos I have by them, I love a lot. If someone is interested in A-RT but finds it hard to stomach the prices, a thread about non-A-RT yoyos with similar playfeel could be interesting to start.
Other than that, positive-only ācriticismā in yoyo reviews is a typical internet phenomenon, I think, where ācriticismā becomes something else. To be fair, yoyos are so good these days, and when there are issues with a yoyo maybe reviewers are shy about saying so because they donāt want their review to have a negative effect on a small manufacturer. I dunno. Otherwise, positive-only ācriticismā in yoyo reviews just goes with the internet flow, here. It could be more helpful to do reviews that evaluate yoyos in terms of what a particular design excels or does not excel at, instead of only stating the positive attributes.
