2.5 hook advice. Update: HIT IT!

So I’m trying to learn the 2.5.

I have the 2.0 consistent and every hook before that good to go.

I can “hit” the 2.5 but I cannot seem to get my NTH pointer out of the way. The hook always goes around both fingers or just the NTH instead of being around the TH pointer.

I’ve watched some videos and slo-mo’d a few but I can’t seem to connect what I’m doing wrong with what I need to do.

I’ve tried “pulling” it out of the way. Starting the hook further away and “pushing” my TH into the hook. But I can’t seem to figure it out.

Hopefully someone has had a similar issue and has some advice. Im so freaking close it hurts!!

Thanks in advance

Hard to tell without a video. You should just be able to position NTH slightly back or curl your finger in to avoid that.

Just to update. I watched a few videos and it seems everyone puts their TH finger forward to catch it while missing the NTH pointer.

Since I seem to be having an opposite issue of hitting both fingers instead of missing I started to pull my NTH finger back a bit.

I hit my first 2.5 hook. I can’t believe it - so stoked!! 38 years old and laughing like I was 17 again. Love yo-yos!!

Huh. I’ve 3.0 a few dozen times but it’s nowhere near consistent. Never tried 3.5.

I like catching the hook on my throw hand way more, no clue why but always been way more consistent at it

I noticed the same for me the .5 are easier than the .0.

I am not sure if it’s because is easier to form and catch the hook with the th instead of the nth, it feels more natural to me, at the beginning I learnt before the 2.5 than the 2.0 for example.

I can understand @Bobparty happiness, first time I closed the 2.5 I was screaming in the living room ahahahha
